In memory and thanks to my great-aunt Anna (Leola) HARVEY, who passed away on November 24, 2000, at the age of 93. She was the last of her generation, the oldest living member of my Harvey lineage. She gave myself and my cousin (and fellow genealogist) Anna Morgan so many valuable bits of our heritage and ancestry. She told us stories of our gggrandfather and ggrandfather. She gave us the images of their faces, as well as their lives. Now she rests in the arms of God, safe with our ancestors. And, as family historians, we can truly say that she may have Gone, but lives on in our hearts, memories and research. Sally Harvey Gullett Jackson had one son, William Harvey by Greene Patrick, she married John Gullett and they had 3 children, Roscoe, Minnie and Cynthia, she then married George Jackson and they had 6 children, Boyd, Boone, Lacy, Troy, Beldon and Lenora. William Harvey took the Gullett name, do not know if this was done legally or not. He was born 6-15-1875 in Kentucky, I believe, married Lula Ann Conley and they had 6 children. Mabel Gullett was my grandmother. I am trying to trace this line of our family back past Sally Harvey. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Terry Durbin Terry5547@aol.com
Hello Everyone, This is my first posting to this list. I live in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and have been researching my family history since 1989. Nora HARVEY was born 30 Nov.1914 at Beech Grove House, Beech Grove Rd, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She was the daughter of Frances Annie (ORMANDY) and John Thomas HARVEY, Fitter, who were married in Portsea in 1906. Frances Annie was the daughter of Mary Emily (WATTS) amd James ORMANDY, Joiner & Undertaker of Barrow-in-Furness, Lancs. Can anyone tell me anything about this HARVEY family please? Many thanks Magdalen mwmaggin@mweb.co.za
Hello Listers! I am looking for a Harvey Cemetery located probably in the eastern part of Campbell County, Virginia. In the book The Nathan Reids of Virginia, by Elizabeth Reid Austin and Helen Reid Roberts, John Reid first brought his family to Campbell Court House (now Rustburg) and - "A few years after bringing his family to the Campbell Court House village, John Reid established his plantation home on Lawyer's Road on a tract of land along Falling River, which is now a place of rolling green meadows and the sprightly plunging river." The book goes on to say - "A family burial plot a little way behind the house and hardly out of sight of it is bounded by an ornamental black iron fencing. The newer half affords tombstones for some of the Harveys. The other half with unmarked stones at the graves is almost lost in a mass of overgrown ivy, vinca minor, lillies-of-the-valley, and a rustle of leaves." I would like to visit this cemetery and hope some of you good people know where this cemetery is and can tell me how to get there. Glen Harvey Roanoke, Virginia

Hello Possible Cousins: I am now trying to research the parents of Thomas Cooper, who died probably early 1796 in Greene/Hancock Co GA. I am sending a copy of his will, and some estate papers that I found in the supporting documents at DAR for an application on his behalf. I descend through his daughter, Mary Polly who married JohnWaller, and is probably the only of the children who didn't make th trip to GA. I am sending this to the Harvey, Nesbit,Lancaster,Stovall,Dillard and Hamilton lists in the hopes that someone out there might also be interested in this and perhaps have researched Thomas Cooper a bit.. Willoughby Harvey enlisted Nov 9, 1862 in Co E of the Civil War regiment 4th Tennessee Cavalry (Union). At that time he was 33 years old, 5'8" tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, born Washington Co., TN, occupation farmer. He survived the war, and applied for a pension May 23, 1885. I found him in the census, as follows: 1850- Bradley Co., TN - age 21, "Williba Harvy", living with mother and brother in the household of Jacob Wyatt. 1860-Bradley Co., TN - age 30, "Williby Harvey", living with wife, three daughters, and mother. 1880-Bradley Co., TN - age 50, living with wife and four children. Here's a pedigree based on the above: 1 Mary b: Abt. 1802 in Tennessee ...... 2 Willoughby Harvey b: Abt. 1829 in Washington Co., TN .......... +Elizabeth b: Abt. 1831 in TN .............. 3 Margaret Harvey b: Abt. 1852 in TN .............. 3 Talena J. Harvey b: Abt. 1832 in TN I cannot find Willoughby in the 1900 Tennessee Soundex. Perhaps he had died between 1880 and 1900. If so, I would be grateful for verification of that (and a date of death) in order to complete his entry in my database of the soldiers of the 4th TN Cav.
