    1. [HARVEY-L] Re: Charles Grover Cleveland Harvey's Parents?
    2. Well here goes again! My annual post for the Big Brick wall on my mothers side! I am searching for my grandfathers family! Anyone having a small clue would be a great help! My Grandfathers name was Charles Grover Cleveland Harvey, b. Feb 1884, Springfield, Ohio, Clark County. His mother, it is said, may have been previously married? (No name?) She died, either in childbirth or when he was young. His father, was Scotch/Irish(no name..Harvey) and was said to have served in the Civil War and marched into Atlanta with Gen. Lee? Charles' father remarried and Charles disliked his step-mother and ran away from home at age 14. Someone found him on a park bench, very ill with scarlett fever, and took him in and nursed him back to health or took him to a hospital? So the story goes, he then joined the Pony Express and worked his way down to Texas, where he met my grandmother, Caroline Schulte (Charles & Rose Tondre), b. in Castroville, Texas. They ran away and married. They joined the Wild Bill Cody Entertainment Company, with people like Annie Oakley, etc.. and traveled by train. (* note: Bill Cody was also in the Pony Express) Their first child was born in Chicago, Il. They were there for the Chicago Worlds Fair with the Entertainment Company. Their last child was born in Whicita Falls, Texas. They had a total of 7 children, 6 girls and a boy who was named Charles Harvey. These are all my aunts and uncles. They moved back to Texas and settled in San Antonio, eventually they ended up in Houston, Texas and stayed until their deaths The only contact they had to the Ohio Harvey's was that, my grandmother wrote to his cousins. My 92 yr.old Aunt only remembers that the cousins names were Orville or Orphile & Wilbur Wright?....and a cousin named Jinny.....? I know...it sounds strange but it's all I have to go on. Any scrape of info would be a start! It would also be very much appreciated. A very large family in Texas would sure like to find the other half of this family! PS: I belive that thru his fathers second marriage, he may have had 1/2 brothers or sisters? Please keep this in mind when doing your Harvey research. Sincerely, Linda Louviere Houston, Texas

    2. Rochelle, Have you tried the Social Security Death Index? It might give some info on Harvey's that have died in CA. Where do you live? If in CA there is a CA death index available at most LDS libraries. I have the CD on SS Index and can check that if you like. Is there a particular name you are looking for? And a place? There are lots listed in the phone book for my area. Too many to list in email but can copy the page and send it to you by snail mail if you would like to send your home address. Hope this helps.
