    3. Hi DoraLee, Thanks for joining the list and thanks for giving your ancestry. John W. Harvey and Jane Elliott are my gr-gr-gr-grandparents. Their daughter, Eliza married my gr-gr-grandfather Alfred Stout. It seems that my Eliza Harvey and your William Harvey b. 1817 are siblings. Eliza was born in 1814 and married Alfred Stout in 1833 in Washington County, TN. She is my first connection with the Harvey family. Although I have not done a great deal of research on this family I am keenly interested. I understand that a John Harvey was a governor of Virginia in the 1600's. I am interested in finding out if our John W. Harvey is connected to him in any way. I am interested in further correspondance with you. You can write me personally if you would like. my email address is: vernellv@swbell.net Sincerely, Vernell Vantreese ----- Original Message ----- From: "DoraLee H Hatley" <abbie21@juno.com> To: <HARVEY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 04, 2001 9:09 AM Subject: [HARVEY-L] New Harvey List Joiner My Harvey's begin, in order of ascendancy with: 1. 3. Hi, I'm new to this list so please forgive me if you have been asked this before. I'm looking for information on the following family found in the 1850 Monroe Co VA(WV) census: 732/732 Eliz. 40 VA Geo. W. 17 La Ward C. 14 Emily 11 Lucinda 10 Cullan 6 Emily is my ggg grandmother and she married Riley J. Ballard. I am trying to find out information on her parents and her siblings. I did see a Cullin H born 1844 but only showed the last name Harvey as the father's name and Elizabeth for the mother - no maiden name. Then I found a Cullum H. married to Mary M. Miller 12/6/1865 in Monroe Co. There are 3 different spellings of the first name so I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    2. To Marie Harvey: Hi Marie, Don't know if I'm one of the ones you hoped to contact on Johnathan Harvey but I'm looking for one. All I know about himm is that he was "of NH". No vital stats on him at all but He married Sarah Wright in Quebec on 8 Nov. 1831 and had 10 children born there. The family was found in 1860 in Wis. but Jonathan was not with them. The oldest child was Anna Gilman Harvey, my husband's g-g-grandmother. I believe the Gilman family of NH is related but no proof. If anything sounds familiar please let me know. 2. Ann Harvey aka Lahtinen
    3. Hello, Fellow Harvey Researchers! I have received the following query from a Non-subscriber, along with her request that I post it to the list. If you wish to respond to her query, please use HER email address ( db1753@dragonbbs.com ) as given at the end of the query. Thank you!! [Ann Harvey, Harvey-L Administrator] Her query is as follows: =========================== Hello Harvey Listers! Recently I have found that my Uncle Lester Wilson had a George Harvey as his duet pardner in the early 1900's. They played and sang together for a few years on the circuits of the theaters. They played mandolin, guitar, banjo. George was the madolin player, and tenor. They worked most of the towns from Chicago to New Orleans. In about 1917 my Uncle Lester went to LA and was working there when he got the flu in Oct 1918 and died. This George Harvey had a wife Hannah. If any of this connects please email me at db1753@dragonbbs.com. Thanks. Sue Ellen Ash ============================ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! 1. [HARVEY-L] Harvey-L List Administrator
    2. Ann Harvey aka Lahtinen
    3. Dear Fellow Harvey Researchers, Greetings! First, let me address the UNSUBSCRIBE issue. If you change isps and your old email address is closed, then you merely need to subscribe to the list with your new email address. The old, closed, email account will be removed from the list after several bounces. If, however, you open a secondary email address (like with Yahoo or Hotmail), and merely want to switch your list subscription to that new email account, then you should UNSUBSCRIBE your old/primary email address from the list, and SUBSCRIBE the new/secondary email address to the list. I hope that isn't too confusing. I have taken a few moments to remedy Mr. Boswell's situation, so further postings to the entire list on the topic is not really necessary. In future, any administrative questions can be directed to me via the same email address you have always used : thg@geocities.com . Now, since I'm already here in all your email boxes, let me apprise you of some changes. I am living in Yorkshire, England, now, and so there are a few changes in my administration of Harvey-L and The Harvey Genealogist. First is the time difference, which is 5 hours ahead of the U.S. East Coast. So, if you send me an email requesting immediate response at 8pm EST, be aware that that is 1AM here, and I will *not* be online at that time. Also, unlike my previous habits in the States of having a dedicated 24-hour modem line, here all calls are metered and I only check my email once a day. Once I receive your requests I will certainly respond to them, but there will be a bit of a time delay in comparison to the past. Our research (all 20-odd boxes of it) are still sitting in the States, awaiting shipping, so I have been pretty much unable to assist with any of the queries. Also, the database has been placed on CD, but I've been unable to install it on my UK PC, and will have to remedy that in the near future. The Harvey Genealogist has not been affected, other than the fact that I've not had the option of editing it for nearly a year. The good news is that, once I am settled a bit more, I will be able to more effectively pursue the UK Harvey research, which will hopefully forward our studies, here **and** in the States. Thank you for your time! Ann Harvey (formerly 'Lahtinen') Harvey-L Administrator www.HarveyGenealogy.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! 3. Dennis If you want to still get the list, just subscribe again under your new email. Roots web will automatically unsubscribe your old address after it gets several bounced emails. If you really want to unsubscribe your old email address because its forwarded or other reasons, its easy in Netscape and probably Internet Explorer. In Netscape select "edit", "preferences", then "Identity" in the mail and newsgroup section. Replace your new address there with old address. Close, send your unsubscribe message, then go back & change identity back to your new email address. If your old email address is not active you will not get the response unless old is being forwarded.. IE should have the same capability, I just don't use it so don't know how. 3. Recently, I requested assistance in unsubscribing one of two subscriptions I have to HARVEY-L. That has not happened and I would very much appreciate any list subscriber who happens to know the HARVEY-L list adminstrator to bring this note to his or her attention. My problem is that my email address changed from dennisb@primenet.com (old address) to dennisb@mindspring.com (new address). I am no longer able to send mail under my old primenet address. Since Rootsweb unsubscribes based on what the domain name is in the requesting email, were I to send in an unsubscribe per Rootsweb procedures, Rootsweb would unsubscribe my mindspring address which is what I DO NOT want to do. Would some kind HARVEY-L subscriber reading this please ask the HARVEY-L list administrator to use his or her list administrative privileges to unsubscribe ONLY my dennisb@primenet.com subscription. I thank you very much for your help. NOTE: My email address has changed: OLD: dennisb@primenet.com (Primenet will forward email to Mindspring through 4/30/01) NEW: dennisb@mindspring.com (effective 3/30/01) Regards, Dennis K.
