    3. About the year 1761, James Harvie, with his two sons, James & Archibald, and his daughter,Marion, or Margaret, or both, and his nephew John arrived in Newport, Hants County, from the state of Rhode island, to which state they had emigrated from the town of Dairy in the shre of Ayr, Scotland. James (son of the elder James) married Alice Wilcox, and left a family of five sons, Benjamin, James, Stephen, John and Archibald. James married Mary A Ernest and left three sons, George, Monson and Arthur Benjamin. George (Big George of Halifax) had two sons, George, who lived in Windsor, and Newton. Monson married Rose Brown from Tennycape, and left three sons, Henry, George and James. Henry married Minnie McIntosh and had two sons, Percy and Lawrence. Percy married Dolly McKenny. Lawrence married Myrtle Langer. George never married. James married Georgina Spratt and had two sons, Arthur and Elmer. Arthur Benjamin married Isanna Page and had one son, Percy. His second wife was Elizabeth Barnard. She left one son Emory. Percy married Isabella Hart. John ,married Nancy Dow, and they had Reuben, David, and Nathan. Thomas Arch married Margaret Ettinger, and had Leonard, Arthur, Prescott, and Sylvanus. Leonard had two sons, Prescott and Harry. ...There seems to be a gap here (I think). James (Summerville) married Martha (daughter of John & Experience Powers Harvie), and left four sons, James, John, Archibald, and Jacob. This is where I come in- Jacob married Arabella Merson... Hope the foregoing is useful. I have deliberately left out the female siblings. Shalom!+ Jack Waller

    3. I have made a change to this list as to how messages will be posted. Because other lists have been "Found" and "spammed" by some unscrupulous members of the Internet and Genealogy community I have been forced to have RootsWeb restrict posting to this list. Effective immediately only subscribed members of the list may send a message to the list address. I want to protect members of the list from "spammers" so I am having to take this step. Sorry for the change, I hope it doesn't seriously affect list members. Have a great day. Ruth

    3. Hi! I am new on this list and looking for someone who has Judson Harvey of Owings (Laurens Co., SC). He was married to Margaret Gray Harvey. I don't have dates but they were prob. married in late 1800s or early 1900s. Margaret was the dau. of J. W. and Grace Woodall Gray. She had a sister, Sally Belle Gray, b. 1880, d. 1931 of blood poisoning. (She may have been a diabetic). One of her dau. died of blood poisoning in 1941. She was a diabetic. Sally married John Henry Cannon. I can't locate J. W. and Grace, but if I could find someone with Judson Harvey, maybe they could shed some light on my Sally. It is possible they were from MS. Thanks, Joye

    3. I'm searching the history of the William HARVEY family who immigrated to the Winnebago Co, IL, area from Canada in about 1839. William was born in Pennsylvania in 1797, but I don't know the story of how he ended up in Canada. I believe he was a widower who came to Winnebago County with his four children. I am descended from the oldest son, Josiah, who married Margaret CRUMP, also from Canada. It isn't know if they knew each other in Canada, or met after they settled in IL. Below is a descendant report of the first few generations I have. If anyone sees any connection or could suggest where I might find more info, I would be greatful. He is supposedly my 1st cousin 4 times removed. I am curious as to where/how the name Riley originated for these HARVEY folks as it had not occurred at any time before to the best of my knowledge. I don't have anything specific to your William Riley HARVEY but I have encountered : Riley HARVEY b. 1805 VT d. 1860 VT m. 1828 Amanda ABBOTT B. 1808 VT d 1856 VT. They had two sons I am aware of : George HARVEY b. abt 1830 and Napoleon HARVEY b abt 1843 VT. Napoleon HARVEY had a son named George Riley HARVEY b. 1863 VT. Do you know where your William Riley's parents were from? If you think there may be a link - we could exchange some specific info? Bill Harvey [email protected] Linda L. HARVEY, Rita "Rita Morley" (GANN ); 69; Simsbury CT, NY Post NY; 1997-6-30 "NEW YORK POST, Monday, June 30, 1997; page 22: TV star Rita Morely Harvey, an actress once dubbed "America's Most Televised Girl," has died at age 69. Harvey died on Saturday at the McLean Home in Simsbury, Conn., after a long battle with cancer. Born in West Hartford, Conn., her given name was Rita Gann. She later adopted Rita Morley as her professional name. During the 1950s and '60s, Harvey was a regular character on television soap operas that included "As the World Turns," "The Edge of Night" and "Secret Storm." She was also the spokeswoman for the Coty Co., a makeup company, in the 1950s. Between the soap operas and commercials, Harvey made so many television appearances that she became "America's Most Televised Girl." Aside from TV, Harvey also made Broadway appearances in "The Seven Year Itch" and "The Impossible Years." Harvey was also a member of the board of directors of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and the Screen Actors Guild. She wrote several books, including "Those Wonderful, Terrible Years," a history of the actor unions' struggles with blacklisting in the 1950s. She also wrote a gardening column for the Westport News, alternating with Martha Stewart. Harvey was the widow of Kenneth Harvey, who was also an actor and former AFTRA president. Harvey is survived by a sister, Ellen Chorches, and a brother, Morley Gann, both of West Hartford.
