    3. Hi All- I'm searching for any information on William HARVEY b.1797 - some census records indicate place of birth as PA, some as OH. I don't know the name of William's wife or his parents, but know that he had at least 4 children: Josiah b.1832 Canada John b.1831 Canada Nancy b.1833 Canada Mary P.b.1835 Canada The 1850 Census has William living alone with his 4 children in Shirland, Winnebago Co, IL. I don't know when William moved to Canada and if he was married there, or in OH or PA. 1860 has William living with his son Josiah, his wife Margaret nee. CRUMP and the first few of their children, in Rockton, Winnebago Co, IL. I don't know any information on Willam's other three children. Below are Josiah's children: William H. 1855 Mary Isabel 1856 (my gg grandmother) m. Lorenzo Dow BLACK, then George CROWLEY Joseph Issac 1859 m. Margaret ? Albert 1860 Anna 1863 m. ? SNIVELY Bert 1866 Fred 1870 Charlotte 1873 m. Charles SNYDER Mabel 1877 m. ? LONG Lulu ? George ? m. Alma ? Margaret ? Any information on this HARVEY line would be greatly appreciated, especially William's parents, siblings and anything related to his wife, marriage place and/or birthplace. Thanks in advance... I will gladly share other info that I have. Laura Kaatz [email protected] 2316 W. Cothrell Street Olathe, KS 66061

    2. Hi Sherry, Thanks for the list of children of Lemuel HARVEY and Ann BALLARD.Your HARVEY'S and mine are probably related in some manner, but right now I can't make the connection. I am fairly certain that the J.M. Harvey I am searching for is John M. Harvey, not James Monroe Harvey. Do you know the names of James children? My J. M. Harvey had the following children: Jonathan b abt. 1870 Alabama or Texas Leonadas b abt 1872 Texas Willie F.(daughter) b abt. 1875 Texas Mary Parolee b abt. 1877 Texas C.D. (daughter) b abt 1879 Susannah b (unknown) There were probably several other children also. If you think some of these may be children of James, please let me know. Thanks, Cacj [email protected]

    1. Re: George and Nancy Harvey
    2. I have some interesting name connections here -- I'm searching for the parents of John HARVEY b.c. 1750. In his pension file is a letter claiming that his son GEORGE HARVEY said his father (John) was born in South Carolina! My John HARVEY served in the PA Line during the revolution and moved to Maine about 1789 where he died in 1838. He married Lucy Knowlton of Northport, ME and their children were GEORGE (b.c. 1792), JOHN, NANCY, JOSEPH, JANE (probably named for wife's grandmother Jane Rodgers) AND LUCINDA. (probably named for wife Lucy Knowlton). The son, George Harvey also went on to have a son named James! I have done some research on Harvey's in SC and am not familiar with this George and Nancy Harvey. I would be most interested if you discover any connection to my family tree. Do you know the father of your George Harvey? Any connections to Virgina? Randy Harvey, Clearwater, FL

Had at least the following children: Mabry born April, 1831, Nancy (born circa 1835), James (born circa 1837), John (born circa 1839), Thompson (born circa 1843), and Margaret (born circa 1845). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Joanna e-mail address: [email protected]

    1. Re: George and Nancy Harvey
    2. Regarding your posting on George and Nancy Harvey, I find a George Harvey listed on the 1820 South Carolina Census Index as follows: George Harvey Union Co. page131 see key 210101-10020 There is also a listing for Nancy Harvey: Nancy Harvey Beaufort Co. page 028 see key 000000-100010 I don't know what the numbers at the end mean. Do you know what state George and Nancy were born in? Also, do you know what states their children were born in? I would be very interested in this line of HARVEY's and would appreciate any furthur information you might have. I am searching for J.M. Harvey b abt 1842 in Alabama. His father was born in Georgia, but his mother was born in S. C. Perhaps these are related in some way. Hope this helps you. cacj [email protected]

    3. Hi All, I am writing this because I have seen so many people write in and say they delete most of the messages before they are read if the names they are searching are not in the heading of the message. I am a Genealogist, and I leave no stone unturned. It is a good idea to read all messages, if you have time and a large hard drive. Each message is inquiring about a person or family thay are searching for. There might be a connection to a sister or brother of your family which may lead you to a mother or father or maybe both. Fo example, names that are so common as Jones. I save all messages with the Jones Surname in the same time frame, or earlier, and area where my Thomas Jones, son of James, was born. It could lead me to a brother or sister of my James Jones, which I have no information on at the present time. I may get a lead that wayon James Jones Parents. You probably all knew this, but I just wanted to throw it out there. As a Genealogist, we search every piece of the puzzle and don't discard any piece until it is thoroughly investigated. Thank you Shawnnee

    1. IMPORTANT: RootsWeb Upgrades
    2. Ruth Davison
    3. I thought you should have this message from Brian Leverich. Ruth --- As you probably know, load on RootsWeb has been skyrocketing. The lists.rootsweb.com server now handles about 50% of the load of the biggest listserver on Earth (plum.lsoft.com), and the www.rootsweb.com server now handles about 20-40% of the load of www.microsoft.com (and they use 15 servers (-8 ). One problem we're having is that the Linux operating system just doesn't seem to be able to handle this load gracefully. We've been having multiple system crashes each day, and it's basically preventing us from doing other things we want to do (like get search engines up and Web interfaces to your message archives). Anyway, the solution seems to be shifting to a different version of Unix -- FreeBSD -- which is generally regarded as much more stable under load than Linux. FreeBSD is used by a number of very large sites, including Yahoo and ftp.cdrom.com (the world's busiest FTP site). We'll be converting lists.rootsweb.com and www.rootsweb.com to FreeBSD over the next few days. You can expect some down time and probably some annoying glitches as we make the transition. Please bear with us -- I think we'll have the moves completed in the next few days, and I'm guessing that we'll be fully back to normal (including achieving our old 98%+ uptime performance) within two weeks.
