    3. Dear Harvey List Members, Hello! In the course of my personal Harvey research I have become more and more aware of an on-going relationship between the Harveys and the Comb(e)s families through Virginia and into Kentucky in the 18th and 19th centuries. Certainly there must be more of us (Harvey Researchers) that have Harvey/Combes marriages in your lines...perhaps this will be of use to one of you! 3. Hi Michelle: I have also seen many variations in this family including some "large variations in dates etc. -- It sounds as if you have more complete information than I, but to add to the discussion, here's what I currently have. I must stress that most my information is "compiled" from other sources and not researched myself. --- My interest in compiling HARVEY families is in locating (and excluding) any John Harvey's b.c. 1750 from my ancestor hunt. I was originally intrigued by this family because I've seen it listed with two (2) John Harvey sons, one b. 1745, the other b. 1758. Here is the way I currently have it -- JOHN HARVEY bc. 1725, St. Thomas Parish, Orange Co, VA, d.1804 Monroe Co, VA m. circa 1750 MARGARET BURKE bc. 1728/29 Orange Co, VA, d. 1800, Monroe Co, VA. Children: 1) Henry bc. 1748 2) William bc. 1749 3) Benjamin bc.1751 m. Susannah Ballard 4) Nicholas bc. 1753/55 (also have seen birth in 1743?) m. 1) Sarah Ann James, 2) Nancy Snidow 5) Joseph b. 12 Nov 1754, Orange Co, VA m. Lucy Ballard 12 Nov 1778 who was born 9 Nov 1761 Orange Co, VA 6) Elizabeth bc. 1754/58 m. John Stodghill 7) John E. Harvey Jr. b. 7 Dec 1758, St. Thomas Parish, Orange Co, VA. d. 1844 Lawrence Co, AL m. Lucy Estes (I've also seen a John Harvey in this family b. 1745 who m. Elizabeth?) 8) Thomas bc. 1758 m. Sally Hobbs 9) Jacob bc. 1760 m. Louise 10) James bc. 1767 m. Mary Snidow 11) Joshua Calvin b. Dec 1769, Greenbrier, Orange Co, VA m. Sarah Ann Swope 12) Sally b. ? -- m. James Goodall 13) "Nanny" b. ? -- m. Francis Williams, 5 May 1776 Can you identify the parents of John Harvey bc. 1725? I have no information about the Michael you identified or his father Austin Harvey. Anything you have that will add to, or improve my information about this family would be appreciated. 3. Hi Sherry - Regarding the Lemuel Harvey son of William b. 1749 in Orange Co, VA which I posted -- I believe William's parents were John Harvey and Margaret Burke of Orange Co, VA. This family moved into Monroe Co, WV and I believe one of the sons, (brother of William) Benjamin married a BALLARD. Sorry, I don't have an address for V. GAY. I do know her name was Vannetta Gay. Her research notes are dated 1977 and on many pages she states "not proven" and often gives the name and address of other researchers who were her sources. In looking over these and other notes I've collected, looking for more clues for a Lemuel or a connection to Scotland, I've found the following which might provide you with some clues. A) I've found several references to "Lemuel" mostly in KY in early 1800's -- This may well be the Lemuel son of William noted above. B) In V. Gay's notes I've found the following: "Brothers who came to America from Scotland: (settled Elkten, Cecil Co, MD 1753) 1) William Harvey 1727/67 m. Rebecca Carruthers, 2) John, 3) Andrew, 4) James. --- James & Wm to Cumberland Co early, Andrew a bit later" (note: Cumberland Co, PA?) Sherry, I know I've seen this William Harvey / Rebecca Caruthers on lineage charts from South Carolina! This suggest to me that some part of this family moved south. This is at least closer to you GA connection with Lemuel.. However: Here's another clue - with an Olgethorpe Co, GA connection! "John Harvie, bapt. 20 Dec 1706 at Gargunnock, Scotland. His will prob. 1767, Alemarle Co, VA. mar. Martha Gaines on 10 Jan 1742 (she d. 7 Oct 1802; her will at OGLETHORPE CO, GA; she was dau of Daniel Gaines and Martha Taylor) See book "Georgians" by G.R. Gilmore, American Book Co., Americus GA, 1926, pp. 109-122 and reference: --- For the Harvie family who came from Scotland and lived in Georgia (et al) see book, "The Harvie Family of Virginia" by John Harvey Creecy, pub. 1949: addr: 4100 Grove Ave., Richmond, VA" Sherry, Please keep me in mind if you find any stray John Harvey's who were born abt. 1750 -- Mine's running loose out there somewhere!
