Allen County Library will send you copies of the articles mentioned in the PERSI. Contact Allen County Public Library Foundation, P O Box 2270, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46801. Send a letter describing the articles to be copied (give the full entry from PERSI) with name of the journal. You can request a reasonable number of articles, generally not more than 6 articles per letter. The charge is $5.00 per letter and .20 per page, so if you see several articles you may be interested in, you might as well ask for them too. They will bill you for the copies when they send them. I have used them lots of times and always have been pleased with the service. For those of you who are wondering what we are talking about, Allen County Public library has set up a huge website at http://www.ancestry.com/ They have several databases that you can search for free until Jan. 1 after that they will have a subscription of 6.95 per mo. You really need to check this out. It is a great service. They have SSDI info too and from what I understand, if you have your relatives Social Security number, you can access the location where their last check was sent.
Re: the Governor Thomas Harvey and Orange co. Va. connection- There are a lot of people that think that is a good possibility. I have Thomas Harvey, as son of John Harvey and his wife living at the Heath in Snitherfield Parish, in Warwickshire England (near London). His will mentions wife Sarah (Laker),( 1st wife was Johanna Jenkins, some records have Elizabeth Jenkins, relict of Hon. John Jenkins), nephews Thomas and John, sons of late bro. Richard of London, bro. Robert of Snitherfield Parish. I also found a will for Richard Harvey 1732-33 that lists sons John, Richard, Peter, LEMUEL, and Josias, dau. Bridget, son James and wife Mary, unfortunately, it does not list the county, but is in NC. We could look it up in NC will book and see if it is in the same area. Thomas Harvey was in Perquimanns co. I think we are seeing that apparently Lemuel is a family name and that is why we are seeing his name in Ga. NC Tn etc. We need to go back to Oglethorpe co. if that is the last place you are sure that he was and look in the land records etc. to see if it tells you where he came from. A lot of times, the first deed they make in that area will tell where they are from. I just hope Oglethorpe was not one of the burned cos. If it is, I would try for Bryan co. The info that I got was from Genealogical Info from Extant Ga Newspapers and it said Sarah Harvey applied for administration on Lemuel Harvey, Oct. 23, 1797 in Bryan Co. It was published by Huxford, the huge genealogical library in Ga. There may be more info in their quarterlies, but it is time consuming to look through them. If you don't have access to the books or family history center, let me know and I will look for you when I get back to the library. Janice
Is anyone familiar with this above? Periodical Source Index You can search it free, for 7 days, through Ancestry, Inc. I put in the surname HARVEY and it came up with 330some hits. One I am particularly interested in is Article Title:Joseph Harvey-Lucy Ballard Fam. Ky. Periodical: Long Hunter- Vol. 18 Number 2, April 1995. Does anyone take the Long Hunter, or would know where I could get the info on the article. Pat

Sorry for the partial post previously; Information on "Harvey Connection"by Mary Lou Dawson, including how to obtain a copy, is located at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/6575/print.htm I checked the partial index for Augustus Gover and a Sarah P. Harvey - came up with lots of Sarah Harveys, but no mention of a Gover. Good Luck! Seeking anything on Augusta A Harvey, b. 3 1869 in Iowa. Married 14 Sept. 1890 to Harvey Byron Rhoades. Father ?? born in New York. JoAnne
Noted in the latest post requesting information on John H Harvey that there was a reference to the repetition of 'Onesiphorus' first name. In the work, "Harvey Connection" by Mary Lou Dawson, this particulair Harvey line is traced through various states. I DID check the index for "John H. Harvey", and only came up with a "John Henry Harvey" which post-dates your "John H.". I would caution readers of this work that I have found the index to be only partial, and it often "pays" to read the genealogies carefully. Seeking any pre- & post- Civil War information on my GGF John H Harvey b. 3-8-1825 (poss. Halifax Co, NC) d. 12-13-1896 Clay Co, TN 2nd Spouse: Mary Margaret Johnson b. 6-23-1853 Overton Co, TN m. circa 1877 d. 12-19-1933 Clay, TN, second daughter of Willson R. Johson b. 6-8-1812 NC d.12-28-1905, Clay Co, TN & Savina Johnson b.1-7-1816 d. 4-22-1889 Clay Co TN buried at St. John's Cemetery Children: James Thomas Harvey b.9-1878 George Curtis Harvey b.c1880 d.12-1953 General Sherman Harvey b. 4-8-1883 d. 3-11-1967 Overton, TN Ida Harvey Taylor b. 8-6-1884 d. 10-1972 Leslie Andrew Harvey b. 1-10-1886 Overton, TN d. 1-27-1978 Overton, TN (my GF) Lena M. Harvey Colson b. 7-1889 Cora E. Harvey b. 5-13-1892 d. 8-23-1892 William M. Harvey b. 10-27-1894 d.12-1984 John H Harvey served with the 20th TN Cav (CSA) probably Sep 1863 & March 25, 1864. Most of 20th TN Cav was recruited out of Henry & Gibson Cos, TN to serve in Col Russell's Regiment under General Nathan Bedford Forrest. During Forrest's raid on Paducah, KY on March 25, 1864, believe John H Harvey left command and swam the Ohio River to change sides. Later, John is listed in 1890 Census of Federal CW veterans as assigned to Co K 4th East TN Cav (USA)[aka 4th TN Mounted Infantry (USA)or 4th TN Cav (USA)] with residence at Speck, Clay Co. Speck is about 2 miles east of Monroe, TN along the West Fork of the Obey River. He raised his family in Harvey Hollow along Heard Ridge in Overton/Clay Cos near Dale hollow Lake. Believe John H Harvey's pre-CW roots are more in western Tn rather than Overton/Clay Cos. Strongly suspect John H Harvey is a great grandson from the Col Thomas Harvey & Sara Williams line (Halifax Co NC) through their second son Thomas Harvey & Nancy Porter line based on repeated usage of common family names derived from 'Onesiphorus' first name (i.e. Northumberland Co VA to Halifax Co on into TN). Would be particularly interested in 1870 TN Census in trying to isolate John H Harvey during the period after the CW (1865) to his arrival in Overton/Clay (circa 1876) with two young kids (Bart Harvey and Babe Harvey Long)from 1st marriage(spouse & location - unk)in tow. Would welcome any help. Warmest regards to all Harvey researchers in '98. Larry Harvey
Augusta married Harvey Rhoades she is my g.mother. I have no other information but I hope that someone has her in a children's list. JoAnne

HARVEY's of New York, Illinois, Iowa & Utah I am looking for information on ancestors of Earl Thomas HARVEY (b 26 Oct 1863, Chicago, IL). Earl married Bertha Alice SAMSON on 1 Jul 1887 at Marian, Linn Co., Iowa (b 16 Jul 1866, Marian). Earl and Bertha's children were: Edmund Squire (B abt 1888, Chicago), Squire Earl (my father) (b 2 Jun 1890, Chicago), Lawrence (b abt Aug 1897, Salt Lake City, Utah), and Katherine Naomi (b 1 Oct 1899, Salt Lake City). Earl Thomas had a brother, Harry F. HARVEY (b abt 1860, Marian) and (perhaps) other siblings. I have fairly complete information, going back to the early 1600's, on Bertha. Earl's parents were Squire Thomas HARVEY (b abt 1834 somewhere in New York State) and Amanda Laura (?) SESSIONS (b abt 1838 somewhere in Vermont). Amanda had a sister, Lualia SESSIONS (b abt 1841 somewhere in Vermont). There were probably other siblings. I would be glad to help with any information I have.
