    3. I sure would like to have some generations to help form these groups?/ I have two people with two different families, who would like to be team leaders of their group. I will post these to the list within a couple of days. Also, I understand that some of you are concerned that I am trying to duplicate the work that has been done by Ann with the Harvey Genealogist. Nothing could be further from the truth. There are many on this list, who just havent been able to make a connection. I hope this will help them, and the findings will be offered to the HARVEY GENEALOGist. I hope Ann and I can work together. I get alot of email from this list, of people who don't know which family they belong to, these are the ones I want to help, and would love for the rest of you to come along for the ride, and perhaps find more on your families. I have also posted the address of the Harvey Genealogist to the tag lines for our list. Pat

    3. Emotions are great. I have emotions for people I never knew, but had great respect for. It keeps us all going. We probably wouldn't be researching if we didn't have some feeling for the people, and their families. I know I'm that way. Pat

    2. Ann Harvey Lahtinen
    3. I was surprised that Pat didn't know about The Harvey Genealogist or Harvey Surname Association, and thought I should relay the following information to the list. The Harvey Genealogist began as a genealogical hardcopy newsletter for Harvey Researchers; in 1994 I started putting the Newsletter online. Now, 3 years and 250 pages later, there is more than just marriage records. The Harvey Genealogist has Harvey Census Records, A Harvey Library with a listing of all the Harvey Genealogies registered with the Library of Congress and volunteers willing to do lookups; Harvey Photos, Harvey Vital Stats, Articles on the Orgins of the Harvey Surname, and much, much more. You can access the pages at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/6575/ The Harvey Surname Association was formed a year ago, and we have over 50 members. We have been working on the Charter ( http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/6575/charter.htm) and will soon be presenting it to the members for radification. The Harvey Surname Association (THSA) will soon be sponsering the first International Harvey Reunion, hopefully in the Summer of 1999. The Reunion Committee is still being formed. -- Ann Harvey Lahtinen, Steward <[email protected]> The Harvey Genealogist The Harvey Surname Association http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/6575/

    1. Team : Thomas HARVEY b. 17 Sep 1682 Taunton, Bristol Co., MA
    2. William L. Harvey
    3. I believe this TEAM approach would be very helpful to many of us and I would like to suggest starting from a verifiable point in descendency and work together to fit the descendants we are tracing into the family network. This should benefit all of us with new sources and clues which would be exchanged and used by many others as they find linkage to the search subjects. Here is the Thomas HARVEY family I would like to work on with other researchers (The source is The HARVEY BOOK by Oscar Jewell Harvey) : Descendants of Thomas Harvey 1 Thomas Harvey b: 17 Sep 1682 Taunton, Bristol Co., MA d: Unk in ? +Sarah ? (Harvey) b: Bef. 1756 I have a specific interest in Zachariah (my 5th gr-grandfather) but have gathered whatever information I could about his siblings as I did my searching. Hoping this is the program you are suggesting - I would welcome hearing from any other researcher working with this family. Bill Harvey [email protected] Colfax, CA

    1. Harvey Team Researchers.
    2. Ann Harvey Lahtinen
    3. Pat, Your suggestion of Harvey Team Researchers is a good one...I've been trying to do that for the past 4 years. That is, in fact, the entire motivation behind The Harvey Genealogist and The Harvey Surname Association, which, by the way, has included a Harvey Census Project for the past year. The Harvey Genealogist contains over 250 webpages of Harvey Information, but it could contain a lot more if people would just take a few moments to extract ALL the Harvey information in an area, instead of just THEIR Harvey information, and then drop me a line. (and I thank everyone who HAS taken a few moments to do just that) I'd be happy to include it in THG...or perhaps the problem IS The Harvey Genealogist? I am open to suggestions. Regards, Ann -- Ann Harvey Lahtinen, Steward <[email protected]> The Harvey Genealogist The Harvey Surname Association http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/6575/

    3. Nona, Thanks for writing about Kinchen Smith Harvey, who married Nancy McClain in 1819 in Greene Co. TN. I checked the indexes of both "The Tie That Binds" (Landreth/Smith) and "Harvey Connection" (Dawson) and found no reference to a Kinchen Smith Harvey or Nancy McClain, or any Kinchens. The Dawson book covers Harveys which migrated from VA & NC into TN, mostly into Dickson County TN. These include the line of the many Onesiphorus Harveys, as well as the Harvey line of Country/Western Artist Lori Morgan. I'm sorry that I could not respond with more postive results! Good Luck, and I'll keep my eyes open for your Kinchen...I know that you have been searching for him ever since I got online in 1994! 2. John A. Miller
    3. Nora, Your posting definitely caught my attention. My WILLOUGHBY (Wilby) HARVEY (Harvy) was born ca 1806 in NC. On October 18, 1830, he married MARGARET J. PARKER in Washington Co TN and they lived in southern Washington Co TN If you are not from that area, Greene Co TN was cut from Washington Co TN in 1783. They lived just across the county line from Greene Co TN. Could our Harvey's have been cousins, if not brothers? Kinchen was a common given name in those days. There was a Kinchen Kelly who moved to Washington Co TN in late 1700's, whose daughter Mary Kelly married "Jack" Miller and had a son Kinchen Miller. The name was German meaning "young son", originally a nickname for the youngest son, but apparently became a given name in the British Colonies. I am just beginning my research of my Harvey ancestors and have not spent much time pursuing this family, in comparison to my other families. I'd definitely be interested in sharing... John A. Then when we get a new subscriber we will know which family to point him to, and also if I come up with any new info, I will know where to direct it. Thanks Pat

    3. I would like to see us use first names to each other. I know this is a large list, but I think its alright to be friends (Harvey Friends). I have been mulling this over in my mind, and here is my plan for this list. We will become TEAM RESEARCHERS. All that means is that we will work more closely together. I don't want to bombard anyone with a million questions but, if any of you have particular records, and would be willing to go through those records or books to find documentation for other Team REsearchers, that would be a boon for us. You can send me a private email. and let me know what you have. Then we will only give out that info if there is someone who is looking in that area I see us printing family groupings, the same ones over and over, but looking for one particular person each time. Here is how we did it on another list I own. I had a young man researching his gg. and ggg grandparents. I recognized the complete name and contacted another researcher on the list, who tied into that same family. She contacted him and is working with him, sharing info, and he also. Then from time to time she lets the list know what has transpired. Its very interesting, and also they both win. He threw a bunch of names at me at first, and I said send me a email with a four generation chart. He did and I knew exactly where he belonged. But of course he needed documentation, and more personal information that he was interested in. Its been very successful for us. Since I've taken over this list, I've been very pleased, in that most of you do work this way. The Harvey family was well known, and there is a multitude of info on the web on the family. perhaps we can put together sites we have visited and info available for us to research. Last night I was researching another name in Chester Co. Pa. web page. They are now listing cemeteries, in certain area, and people online are posting their families in those cemeteries. Also some of the townships that were formed from 1600's to late 1700's are listing the Taxables for that time period. I found in: Birmingham Twp. Chester Co. Pa. John HARVEY listed as a Taxable in 1715 Birmingham Twp. was formed in 1686. John was listed as a Freeman They made that distinction. The church was Birmingham M.M. ***** Kennett Friends Burial Ground- Wm. HARVEY b. 1678 d. 1754 Spouse Judith (Bolin) Osborn Judith HARVEY b. 1683 d. 1750 spouse Wm. HARVEY **** Historic Homes- Wm.
