    3. Hi Betty, The only CARTERs I have in my database are Elizabeth (1736 PA-1832 OH), her father, Nathanial (1771 Ireland-1795 NC), her grandfather, Nicholas (1664 England-1733 Ireland, and her g grandfather, Nicholas (? ?-? ?). I have no RAMSEYs. William3 HARVEY (Isaac2, William1) (1740 PA-1781 NC) had eight children, five sons and three daughters. Ann (1771 NC-1794 NC) died before the rest of his children, her brothers and sisters, moved to OH in 1806 and shortly thereafter. The most comprehensive listing of CARTERs that I know of on the web is at Ohio River Valley Families at <http://www.tbox.com/orvf/>. I hope this is helpful, John At 05:57 PM 1/11/98 -0500, Betty Ramsey Huffman wrote: >John M. There was a John Harvey who purchased land in IL from 1818 Military Tract Land to 1872 R.R. Land. Plus there are many other Harvey's listed, as well as a Zacariah HARVEY. 1. GENEALOGY is . . .
    2. PHHGENE
    3. Genealogy is . . . rewarding because it yields immediate results no matter at what level you choose to become involved, from the filling out of a simple family pedigree chart to the writing of a family history. It is guaranteed to draw you closer to your relatives, give you a greater appreciation for the history of America and the part your ancestry played in it, and provide you with a sense of belonging in this often hectic and rootless society in which we live.... Genealogy also teaches us that while wars, customs, and even governments change, some things are eternal--love, pride in children, devotion to country, sadness at the death of a loved one, and joy at the success of a crop or a new job. Through genealogy, we are connected very powerfully to the past, and also to the future. "Ties That Bind" by sharon harfield (Country Living, March 1991) Pat
