My German ancestors are the Hartwig family who settled in Berrien County Michigan around 1909-1915. They came from Emilin, Volhynia Russia. Their parents were Gottlieb and Julianne Mueller. They married in 1884 and had at least 9 children who lived to adulthood. The children who came to Michigan were Juliane Hartwig Busse (b. 1889), Gottlieb Hartwig-1885, Edmund, Gustav, Pauline. Gottlieb Hartwig Senior went to Volhynia Russia from somewhere near Radom, Poland. Prior to Poland, I have no information. There may be a connection to the Hartwig family from Williamston, MI but I do not have any information on Gottlieb Hartwig Seniors parents or siblings. What a wealth of information. I wish I could make a connection.
