My grandfather is Walter Richard Paul Hartwig and on his birth record (Griefswald, Germany) his parents are listed as Johann Hartwig and Carolina Krohn. I received a letter back with his birth record and it says that his parents lived in Griefswald only for two years. Soooo....I paid a geneologist to find out who his relatives are. Walter was born in 1896 but died in Colfax, California I believe in 1980. I do not have his record in front of me. We could be related and I should find out within the next few weeks if he has any brothers or sisters. I did find him in Hamburg several times so we should find out things soon. Please email me directly at my private email and I will let you know what I find. "Bill", as he was known by his friends and family, was born on June 6, 1923 on a farm near Blue Mound, Illinois to John and Beulah Hartwig. He was a graduate of Blackburn College and completed his graduate work in Speech and Hearing at Central Institute for the Deaf at Washington University in St. Louis. 1. [HARTWIG] Hartwig Family from Michigan
    2. Sandy Burke
    3. My German ancestors are the Hartwig family who settled in Berrien County Michigan around 1909-1915. They came from Emilin, Volhynia Russia. Their parents were Gottlieb and Julianne Mueller. They married in 1884 and had at least 9 children who lived to adulthood. The children who came to Michigan were Juliane Hartwig Busse (b. 1889), Gottlieb Hartwig-1885, Edmund, Gustav, Pauline. Gottlieb Hartwig Senior went to Volhynia Russia from somewhere near Radom, Poland. Prior to Poland, I have no information. There may be a connection to the Hartwig family from Williamston, MI but I do not have any information on Gottlieb Hartwig Seniors parents or siblings. What a wealth of information. I wish I could make a connection.
