It looks as though one of these surnames is her prior marriage and the other a birthname. When Johan moved from Aalborg, Denmark to Griefswald, Germany his name changed from HartVig to HartWig. I know Rudolf remarried after Maria to Anna Sophie Hoehne before immigrating to the US. Johann (Jon) Rudolf Moldenhauer b. Jun 1785 in Sietzing, Brandenburg, Germany m. Maria Hartwig in 1810 Immigrated to US in 1843 d. Mar 1848, Lebanon, Wisconsin, USA Maria Hartwig b. ~1790 Brandenburg, Germany d. 1820 Brandenburg, Germany If anyone has any information about either of them, especially their ancestors, I sure would appreciate it. She was born 21 April 1805 in Gross Varchow, Parish of Gross Varchow,Mecklenburg. I obtained this information from LDS microfilms of the parish registers. I transcribed the surname as Hardwig, with the "d". Maria married Johann Dethloff Friedrich Christoph Köppen 23 October 1834 at Kleth, Parish of Mölln, Mechlenburg. He was born 10 September 1808 at Gevezin, Parish of Wulkenzin. Maria was the daughter of Johann Juergen Hardwig who was born 6 April 1770 in Lehsten, Parish of Gross Varchow. Maria's mother was Katharina Margaretha Noss. Any connection to your Hartwig's? Sawade, is near the city of Grunberg in the Province of Grunbergin Nieder Schlesin, Lower Silesia. Hartwigs from there emigrated to South Australia. Would you like more info re this family at all? Would you like to know whats in it? my lot come from Grevesmuhlen, near Lubeck, traced to 1695. My researcher who had the same surname, actually went to the village/town and photographed the register entries c/- of the Lutheran Minister.
