    3. ---------- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Adams, Allshouse, Ison, Hart, Linsinbigler, Murray, Ostandes, Pierce. Date: Tuesday, September 01, 1998 2:55 PM I am looking for Lydia Ostandes Pierce Adams. b? m? died in Pittsburgh 4th Ward with two of her daughters (names not known, but one may have been named Amanda) in 1845 of smallpox. Were buried where Union station now stands. The Methodist burying ground was dug up and moved when the station was built, then moved again when the station expanded. While I was told there are no records of the original burials to prove it was a Methodist burying ground. I've located maps of the area before the station was built that show the location as a Methodis burying ground. Her husband Samuel D Adams. b. ? m. ? d. ? May have been in Brownsville or West Brownsville after Lydia died. The D. may stand for Douglas as his daughter Anne Jane named one of her sons Samuel Douglas. The first known location for Lydai and Sauel was Indiana Co when their daughter Anne Jane Adams b 11 Nov 1836 Indiana Pa. We have the information on her following her marriage on 1/14/1856 to Finley Allshouse. d. 1923. Have located two possible sisters Catherine Adams m Arthur Murray of Dellslow W Va, and Sarah Linsenbigler m Isreal of Jeanette Pa. From affidavits they signed for Anne Jane to get Finleys Civil War pension as his widow. Catherine stated in hers that she was Anne Janes sister. Census information for W Va indicates Catherine was an Indian born in Pa. There were supposed to be other siblings as well. I have been corresponding with someone who was also looking for a Catherine Murray. Who was able to tell me that Catherine E. Murray born Oct 31, 1839 was married to Arthur Murray and from her tombstone the following: Gravestone - wife of Arthur Murray, died Oct 26, 1921, buried at Summers Glen. " She informed me that Catherine was Adams before she married Arthur, sister of an Isabelle Adams. Isabelle married Ben Ison Hart and lived in Springhill Twp., Fayette Co., PA. She was supposedly Indian. Anne Jane Adams Allshouse, Catherine E Adams Murray, Sarah Adams Linsenbigler were educated as each of them signed their affidavits instead of making their marks as did most of the other relatives. Was there a school in the area - other than Carlisle - for Indian children? We have the deathbed statement of an ancestor who stated Lydia Ostandes Pierce Adams was of the Shawnee Band at the mouth of the Youghiogheny River. I'm not quite sure what to ask, except does any of this ring a bell in anyones research of the Adams or the other names I've mentioned in the area?
