Hi I am searching for the HART family from the London area of Ontario in early 1800's I have Esther or Hester HART from London md John Elias SLOOT in Westminster Township, Middlesex co. Ontario July 3 1838. She was abt 18 years old at the time. In 1851 the family is in Adelaide Township of Middlesex co Ontario. In 1852 they are in St. Clair co MI. Other SLOOTs immigrated at same time to Sanilac co MI. >From other records there is belief that she had sisters, Rebecca and Laura. She may have had a father or brother by the name of John(see below). Ontario Register No 8, 1990 Marriages by Rev. Abraham SLOOT, Regular Baptist Church, Westminster Kenedy CREIGHTON and Laura S. HART, both of London, 25 December 1835. Witnesses John HART and Esther HART. Same minister: George SHAVER and Rebecca HART, both of Westminster, 11 April 1836. witnesses Ira Mills SUMNER and William SUMNER. This may be a brother of Hester or Esther in the 1851 cenus: JOHN HART, farmer, born USA, Universalist, age 37 Pamela wife, born USA Universalitst, age 27 Helen E, born Upper Canada age 6 Simon age 3 They were on Lot 4 Con 2 Westminster Twp. Middlesex Co. Ontario 1842 census of Westminster has John and Esther(John Sloat below) and these HARTS:On /Reel C1345 -1842 Census of Westminster there was a John Sloat, farmer Simon Hart Farmer Edmund Hart Farmer Abraham Hart Farmer These are heads of household...unable to decipher the census as it was impossible to follow. PERHAPS IF SOMEONE HAS ACCESS TO THIS REEL ABOVE, THEY CAN DECIPHER IT AND LET ME KNOW SOME AGES AND LOCATIONS SO THAT I CAN NARROW DOWN THE POSSIBILITIES FOR ESTHER'S PARENTS AND SIBLINGS. There is also a James HART as one of the first settlers in Westminster Township(before 1820) on Concession 2. The London Leaf claims that this HART was a Loyalist from VT, but I cannot confirm this. Would love to know where London Leaf got that information. Thank you so much. Stan
