A copy of a post I made about 6 months ago .. any new subscribers know these Harts? Hi, I've been lurking for a while and as of yet I haven't seen any Hart's that I can "identify with" <g> ... but I promise I'm a for real Hart. Problem is, my family has lived in the same area for at least 150 years which is good for that period of information but my GGG Grandfather Harris J. Hart (Hartt) who was b. in 1816 and married a woman named Sarah Bullock who was a sister of William Bullock has me at a semi dead end. He may have been a son or nephew of either John or Archibald Hart of Madison/Oglethorpe Co. GA. I'm leaning toward the Arcibald possibility since Harris J. had a son he named Archie Frank Hartt and the fact that Archibald was married in Oglethorpe Co, GA in 1802 to one Polly Berry... off the top of my head, in either the 1850 or 60 census of Madison Co, Ga has Polly living next door to Harris and Sarah. I'm not sure where the Hart family came from before they came here ... in or around 1800. My grandfather has told me long ago that someone had told him that the family came from North Carolina. Living nearby are surnames such as Spratlin, Bullock, Rice, Thompson, Johnson, Burroughs, Bryant, Bridges ... Irish and English descent prevalent in the immigration of the area, settled mostly by Revolutionary Patriots and their kin. Has anyone heard of or have a clue to where this branch of the Hart family came from ... Thanks in advance ..... Guy
