FIRST: This is a question for fun (can anybody tell me the proper terms for the "relationships" that existed in the following step 5? This is my early tree (honest) and I DON'T know the answer.... (This starts with William Hart of Hart's Range, Bedford Co., PA, ca 1770) William Hart, Sr. (1717) had a number of children. 1) His second child was Margaret who had a daughter Elizabeth. Thus Elizabeth is the granddaughter of William, Sr. 2) William, Sr.'s fifth child was John. John married Elizabeth; i.e., uncle/niece. 3) John and Elizabeth's second child was William, Esq. Thus William, Esq. was simultaneously both grandson and great-grandson to William, Sr. 4) William, Sr.'s sixth child, Nathaniel, was married twice. By his second wife, they had a daughter Mary. Mary was William, Sr.'s granddaughter. 5) Mary and William, Esq. married each other. Beyond the obvious Husband - Wife, can anyone explain what the proper teminology for the relationships (plural I'd guess) of Mary to William, Esq. would be? SECOND: I'd like to hear from anyone working on this tree including allied families (Kearney, Hess, Wink, Covalt, Truax, Stahl, Mason, Peck, other?) Am willing to share and hope to hear from some cousins. thanks, Mike <[email protected]> (my new version of Juno accepts e-mails WITH attachments if you care to send any) Mike Thorne 9 Winthrop Ct Durham, NC 27707
