Dear Betty, I noted Hart and McCray among the lines listed for you. In the 1850 census of Mercer County, Missouri, is the family of John Hart, 39, b. NC, and his wife, Rachel, 21, b. Tennessee (she was his second wife). Children listed were Peter, 19, Daniel, 17, Hugh, 14, Elisa J., 13, (all b. Illinois), Frances, 3, and John, 8/12, (both b. Missouri). Also in the household was Martha McCray, 54, b. NC. Have info on John and his ancestors but have never placed Martha. John's first wife was Permelia Ann Cain and Rachel's maiden name was Davis.
