Greetings After seeing Tim's success I thought I'd post this obituary to see if there's anyone who can connect to this line. BTW, this is a wonderful obituary - the only thing missing are her parents, who remain unknown. Cindy Borodkin [email protected] REF: Obit of Laura (Hart) Cox , Mediapolis New Era News, 11 April 1917 Laura Hart was born in Hawkin [Hocking] county, Ohio, February 3rd, 1827, and passed away at her home in Mediapolis, Iowa, Friday, April 6, 1917, in her ninety-first year. In 1845 she was united in marriage to Philip Cox. In 1848 they came to Iowa and located on a farm north of what is now the present site of Mediapolis. They later bought and occupied the farm known as the Philip Cox farm, now owned by James Deam, north of Mediapolis, and lived there many years, moving to Mediapolis about seventeen years ago. Mr. Cox passed away about two years after they moved to town and since then the mother has made her home here with her son, Timothy. For many years Mrs. Cox was a member of the Methodist church and her last days were days of peaceful waiting for the summons for her to come home. Mrs. Cox was the mother of twelve children, six sons and six daughters, five of them having preceded the mother in death. These were: Henry Clay, William F., Samuel B., Francis M. and Mary Ann, the latter dying in infancy. Those left to mourn the going of the mother are: Timothy, of this place; George, of Edison, Neb.; Mrs. Rachel B. Darlington, of Woodburn; Mrs. Jane Boss, of Chariton; Mrs. Josephine Wilson, of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Elizabeth Purcell, of Bayette, Idaho; and Mrs. Olive Mickey, of Osceola, Nebraska. Besides these there are some thirty-three grand-children, thirty-nine great grand-children and six great-grand-children. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church last Sunday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. N. A. Swickard. Interment in the Kossuth cemetery. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
