My gg grandfather JOHN DILL RAMEY, md HANNAH HART, daughter of ELIJAH HART. My mother was our family genealogist and in the book she compiled, she noted the following: "The first Hart I have record of is ELIJAH HART b abt 1760 in New Jersey and died before census time in 1820. In 1810 he was over 45. He md Mary (Polly) Atkins and they came to Virginia from North Carolina. I believe, but cannot prove, that Elijah was a son of JOHN HART, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and that he was in the Revolutionary War. John Hart had a large family and they were all harrassed after the signing." Does anyone know of Elijah? I know only of his descendants. Nina Jackson
