I am looking into the ancestry of John Hart, who signed the Declaration of Independence. Information that I currently have states that he was born in Stonington, CT about 1712. His parents were Edward hart and Martha Furman. His grandfather was a John Hart who settled in Newtown, LI, NY early in the 17th century. I also have information that says Deacon Stephen Hart may have had two brothers....Edmund Hart of Westfield MA and John Hart of Marblehead & Boston, MA. Might this John Hart of Boston be the John Hart who moved to Long Island and was the Grandfather of John Hart the signer? This is all presumption. I am looking for any information that might support it, add to it, or firmly deny it. Any help will be appreciated. I am working on the Hart line as part of my daughter-in-laws family history.
