    3. James Moffit was an Irishman, a good farmer, and a highly respected man. He owned a farm in West Pike Run township, Washington county, Penna, but followed the trade of a weaver and let his sons attend to the farm. The property is now owned by his grandson, John T. Moffit. James Moffit had quite a family of children. Thomas Moffitt, the eldest of the family, was a physician, and practiced his profession in the town of Carmichaels, Greene county, Penna. The son James Moffitt married Miss Bennett and lived in West Brownsville, Washington county, Penna. John Moffit became a farmer, and after he had reached old age married a Miss Wilson. William Moffit, another son of the elder James Moffit, married Miss West. The son Andrew Moffitt, whose wife was Miss Vance, lives in West Pike Run township. Of the daughters of James Moffit, Sr., Dorcas Moffitt became a schoolteacher and afterwards the wife of Ellis Johnson, removing to Ohio.
