My ggf is one of several Erastus Harts from NY. He was b.1811, and moved from NY OH IA IN(?). As of yet I have not figured out who is parents were, but his descendants have written since the 1860s that they were related to General Israel Putnam of the Revolutionary War. All of the Erastus Harts I've located have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, or married to the wrong persons. Yet, nearly all records point to a NY birth (one says NJ)-- not PA or somewhere else. So, I'm following the PUTNAM lead, hoping for a connection... Here is info I have from a Putnam list: Charles PUTNAM and Martha ROSE were married on 27 May 1762 in Preston, New London Co., CT. Daughter Catherine PUTNAM was born on 9 Apr 1778/79 in Paris, Oneida Co., NY. (A second microfilm has Catherine born in 1780 in Preston, MA, but probably means Preston, CT.) Catherine PUTNAM and Daniel HART were married about 1795 in Augusta, Oneida Co., NY. They were the first persons married in Augusta. I have *no idea* if this Daniel Hart is Erastus's father. But so far, he is the only connection to the Putnam family that I've found. As for Erastus, he married Adelia Andrews in Portsmouth, OH, 1836, (He later married Ann Glover, and lived in Keokuk, Lee County, IA with he and Adelia's children.) Anyone have any info or suggestions? Thanks, Tim Hart _______________________________________________ No banners. No pop-ups. No kidding. Make My Way your home on the Web - http://www.myway.com
