Dear Listers, I am wondering if anyone can expound on the list of people below. Mary Hart 1870 Whitechapel London UK. Eliza Hart 1875 Zalig Hart 1876 Marks [ Morris ] Hart 1879 Whitechapel, London, UK. Heres what we know, all belong to the one family. Parents, Daniel [ 1850 ] and Elizabeth Hart [ 1852 ]. Daniel was one of 6 children, Moses [ 1846 ], and Betsy [ 1847 ] then Daniel and Benjamin [1851], Rossetta [1853], Zuesman [1855 ], Lipman [1856 ]. Daniels parents were Zalig Hart [ 1818 ] and Mary Hannah Joel [ 1820 ]. Zaligs parents were Moses Hart [ death 1884 ]. Just to save you some time we are aware of Benjamins line leading up to today. If you can help me build on to any of the family I would be delighted. Very best regards from Australia, Ray

They had a son Jeremiah who was born in 1833 in Fulton County. Ada died in 1838 in Fulton County. She was buried in North Broadalbin Cemetery and later moved to Union Mills Cemetery when that the Sacandaga Lake was built. There are no dates on her stone. Name is Ade HART BROWN. Does anyone have any information about Ada Hart? Richard >From the Shores of Grand Traverse Bay
Does anyone on this list know anything about a Charity HART b. abt. 1770, married Joseph R. Graham b. Sept. 20, 1766 in Virginia? They probably married around 1798 in Virginia and supposedly had 14 children. They later moved to Arkansas where I believe Charity died. I would be more than happy to share information. Thanks, Janet Graham Theberge
In my original message, I listed one of the children of Edwin and Eliza HART as : 5. Joseph S HART born 1838 Clarke Co., VA. Married 1857 in Loudoun Co., VA Rachel Ann MORRISON. Rachel was born 1835 in Clarke Co., VA and died 1877 in Texas - probably Van Zandt Co; she was the daughter of Edward MORRISON (2nd husband of Frances Hart) by bis first wife, Flora WHITE. Joseph, rachel and family eventually moved to Van Zandt Co., TX. Their 5 children are: Joseph E, Rosa Belle, Thomas Roper, Julia Dora and Alice. I now believe that Joseph may have remarried after Rachel died. In the 1880 census for Precinct 1, Kaufman, TX, page 50B, I find: Joseph S Hart age 41, born in VA and wife Nancy Hart (wife) age 33, born in TX. Children listed: Thomas Hart age 14, born in VA Dora Hart age 11, born in VA Allice Hart age 9, born in VA Nora Hart age 10 months, born in TX (this would have to be a child with Nancy). Also lists 2 stepsons, Robert and Cosby Parker, ages 13 and 10. All of this certainly fits with my Joseph S Hart, including names and ages of the children with Rachel. There are 2 children that are not accounted for: Joseph E, who would be about 21 and Rosa Belle, who would be about 19. I can not find a Joseph E anywhere in Texas, but did locate a Rosa B, age 18, living with a James E and Virginia Hart - Rosa is listed as their niece. This would be the right age to be the missing Rosa and it shows her born in VA (also James, Virginia and their children show born in VA). Only problem is that I have no record of Joseph S Hart having a brother James. Anyone have these people? Jamie Danker jdanker@access4cheap.com

Hi, My name is Laurie and I, too, am researching the Hart line. My grandfather was Norman William Hart, b: Nov. 11, 1899 Syracuse, NY; d: Sept. 14, 1977 Baldwinsville, NY. He married Angie Westcott. Norman's father was George A. Hart (my great-grandfather), b: Oct. 31, 1872, Albany, NY; D: Nov. 30, 1936 Syracuse, NY. Married Fannie Belle Finch. George had a brother, Albert J. Hart who married Carrie Miller. George's father was William Hart(my 2nd g-grandfather), b: June 7, 1844 NY; D; Aug. 19, 1882 Baldwinsville, NY. When William was 10 he was adopted by Daniel & Esther (Bedell) Gardner. William married Ella Ann Walker. William was in the Civil War, on 5/17/1861 he mustered into "H" Co. NY 14th Infantry. He was discharged on 6/1/1863 at Utica, NY. In 1872 William lived in Albany, NY; then in 1878 lived in Baltimore, Maryland and in 1880 lived in Fairfield, Virginia. O. Box 7066 Vero Beach, FL 32961-7066 ----- Original Message ----- From: Pam Cooper To: Floriday Today Sent: Saturday, March 01, 2003 8:11 PM Subject: [floridatoday] State Library - No Problem ????? I have been hearing that the Georgia lists and others think that the State Library situation is no longer a problem. Recently, I was reminded by Barratt Wilkins of a situation that happened about 15 years ago. Back in the 1980's, the State Library gave the genealogy collection to the State Archives and there was a lot of flap about that. The State Library gave the Archives mostly family history and genealogy specific materials. Today, we can be grateful that most of them are now safe, temporarily (at least for a year.) However, in order to compromise and make available to genealogists the thousands of state, county and city history materials, the State Library decided to keep them in their circulating collection. This is now a part of the collection going to Nova University. Other items that you can check out are Florida and Federal documents as long as there are two other copies. For researchers of southeastern history, I have found in the State Library catalog over 6300 books on local and genealogical history of six of the southern states, by using the subject heading "[state] history." HOWEVER, many of them ARE located in the State Archives, but many are in the circulating collection. Titles listed below are in circulation. Georgia 625 "History of John [Virginia] Smith and his descendants in connection with the tobacco industry in Gadsden County, Florida and Decatur County, Georgia" [microform] "Polk County, Georgia " Alabama 297 "The administration of John Quinlan : second Bishop of Mobile, 1859-1883" Mississippi 283 "Country churchyards " "Southern women and their families in the 19th century, papers and diaries." [microform] South Carolina 391 "Lancaster County and the Great War, South Carolina " North Carolina 539 "Ashe County's Civil War : community and society in the Appalachian South " Florida 3979 This subject heading cannot find every book. Therefore, an estimate of how many books that can be circulated to researchers in Florida and other states can be a lot higher, especially if you include all the local history books from other states in New England and the Midwest. I found these for New Jersey in the State Library: Root & branch : African Americans in New York and east Jersey, 1613-1863 Documents relating to the colonial history of the state of New Jersey, [1631-1776] If you visit the State Library, and peruse by dewey decimal number in the 900's, I am sure that you will find a very extensive collection of books that can be checked out with a State Library card free to all Florida residents and is available on ILL for anyone in the U.S. But do not overlook other areas in the library. It is not my intention to get people upset about the books again, but it is necessary that everyone realize this collection is valuable. And, taking it away is like pulling the cornerstone and letting it all fall down slowly. The whole DLIS and the Archives are both in an unstable situation and will be for years to come if we don't have an amendment in the constitution to protect the library and archives forever. You may forward this to other lists if you so wish.
