Hello..as I was searching in Rootsweb for some of my family names I happened across your search for this Surname. I have compiled a book of Pioneer's of Medina County, Ohio and remembered that I have seen this name in my search for my book. This book covers newspaper articles, wedding, deaths, mini biographies, court records, cemetery records for most of the cemeteries in Medina Co., and much more.. from as early as 1830's to 1911. Although I am bound by certain rules by my publisher, I will send along the names of those who are listed: George, Hiram, Rev., Richard and William. If you are interested in the book or would like me to look up another surname for you please let me know. Good luck in your search..I know I have spent hours just to find one piece of my family tree puzzle. Beverly Elizabeth

I wrote this question, and got the two answers below. Can anyone else clarify? Does "bound to" mean these folks came here with an agreement to some number of years "servitude" for a certain person? Does anyone know how many years that was, or anything else about that? Thanks, Karen Hart Anthony First answer: In the cases Robert wrote about, the "bound to" means the souls mentioned were--in today's terms--"standing up for" the person who was getting the marriage bond. They weren't going into servitude. Levey (Levi) and Henry Hart belonged to separate/different Hart families. All the rest of the Harts on his contribution were related, cousins to each other, descended from one of the five third-generation brothers. Second answer: Hi Karen, yes...these were children that could not be cared for by the parents and were "bound out" to different families in exchange for room & board. They had to work for these families and "earn their keep". William was 11 years old when he was bound out...that was probably about 1835-1836. I have a detailed account of William and the family he went with, but know nothing about the other children. His story, "Billy the Bound Boy" used to be on-line, but I couldn't find it. I have it on a disk someplace, plus I have it in hard copy.

In the Warrick Co IN 1820 census, John Hart and his son William Hart are my ancestors. (Henry Hart of Warrick Co IN 1820 census is a different line of Harts. He was a JP, so he appears often in court records.) John Hart was born 15 Nov 1772 in NC (census) and died 1 Sep 1858 (gravestone) in Warrick Co IN. He married Elizabeth Casey 20 Jun 1793 in Mercer Co KY. Their children were William, David, Mary "Polly", John Jr., Elizabeth, and Samuel. "Judge John Hart, a brief biography of whom is as follows: Born November 15, 1772, in North Carolina, he immigrated to Mercer County, Ky., when nineteen years old, and in the fall of 1792 married Elizabeth Casey, who bore him six children, as follows: William, born in the year 1794; David, 1796: Polly, 1798: John, 1800; Elizabeth, 1802; and Samuel, born 1804. In April, 1820, Mr. Hart and family moved to Princeton, Ind., and the year following settled two miles southeast of the present site of Lynnville and in what is now Hart Township, which was named in his honor. He was widely known and respected for his many virtues, and for twelve years was an Associate Judge of Warrick County. He died August 23, 1856, as he had lived, an honest, temperate gentleman." -- History of Warrick, Spencer and Perry Counties, Indiana. Goodspeed, Bros. & Co., Publishers, 1885, page 189. In response to Charlotte Coats' message dated 10 OCT 2003. The John Hart listed in Clark County, KY is my ggggrandfather. He married Mahalath Niblack on July 27, 1818 in Clark County. Their first child, William was born August 03, 1819. Some time around 1822, John and Mahalath moved to Dubois County, IN. Makes me wonder if the Josiah Hart listed in the 1820 census of Dubios County, IN and John Hart are related.

Same with these...anyone know who they are? the 1850/1860 census says my Francis A. Hart was born in KY, however, his wife has conflicting info of either IN or KY where she was born, her name Elizabeth Parker.... Can anyone eliminate any of these groups of Harts...I figure my Francis A. Hart was born about 1818 in KY...so one of these has to be his family....:) There is by the way, another Francis A. Hart m to an Elizbath in Christian County KY in 1850, not mine however...different Francis...he's been connected to a Hart family out of NC I think it is.... Hello - Does anyone have Drogheda Conservative Journal, for Meath, Louth, Monaghan, and Cavan Advertiser (The) 1837-1848 Drogheda Co. Louth or Drogheda Journal, or Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan General Advertiser 1841-1843 Drogheda Co. Louth on film? and could you look up the marriage of Samuel Hart, born 1815 (or 1812) and Rebecca Kelly The marriage date is probably either February 2, 1840 or March 15, 1840. Sources show two different dates. I am wondering if one might be the actual date of the marriage and the other might be the date it was recorded in a church or a town hall. I am looking for the location as well as the date. The location might be Co. Armagh or Co. Cavan Rebecca's parents were James Kelly and Jane ?, and they had four daughters. I am also looking for Jane's last name, and any information on the parents of James and of Jane. The four daughters were: 1-Anna Bella or Isabella b. abt 1800 She married John Caughey on 17 Jan 1828 son of Nicholas Caughey. He was born abuot 1800 in Ballyshiel County Armagh, Ireland. He died 25 Nov 1871 2-Jane K\kelly b. 1800 married David Jeffrey and she was married on 1831 3-Mary Kelly married James McHenry on 23 Apr 1830 4-Rebecca Kelly married Samuel Hart on 15 Mar 1840. These two are my forebears. They emigrated to Canada. I'd love to find any information at all about any of the folks mentioned above. And thanks so much for any help you can provide. It appears I'm going to have to explain myself to the list. I had posted a query asking Sue Shaffer to get in touch with me, but I haven't yet heard from her. Here's my story. (Chap.1) Awhile back I found an old posting from her in which she mentioned that Isaac Hart and Lydia Hart were the parent of her grandfather, Elwood Randal Hart b. 8/9/1898. However, when I sent an e-mail to the address given, it came bouncing back to me. I have an interest in this Isaac Hart since I believe he may be connected to my great-grandfather George Harrison Hart whom I believe is from Greene Co., PA. Below is a summary of what I know or believe to be true about George and Isaac. Isaac Henderson Hart b. 1852 Fayette Co., PA s/o George Hart (b. abt June 1801) and Jane _____ b. PA Isaac married Lydia Anne Clouston b. abt 1855 Marshall Co., VA(WV) d/o Robert Clouston and Sarah Pelley (Chap. 2) My great-grandfather was George Harrison Hart b. Mar 1861/1862 in either Greene or Fayette Co., PA d. 22 Jan 1927, Lewis Co., WV George lived most of his adult life in Cameron, Marshall Co. WV and married Emma Jane Kirby. George and Isaac Hart both appear in the 1870, 1880 censuses in the household of George and Jane Hart in Greene Co., PA. In one census, George is listed as a grandson. If he had been Jane's son, Jane would have been in her 50's when she gave birth, and while not impossible, it seems unlikely. So it appears that George may have been a nephew of Isaac. At any rate, they are certainly related. I am trying to find someone who can fill in some blanks for me and help me establish family relationships. This family is my stonewall since I cannot get beyond George and Jane, and I cannot find proof that this George in the census is MY George although all circumstantial evidence points to this conclusion. Can anyone help?
