Hello, I'm looking for a connection between the names HART and PUTNAM at some point between the Revolutionary War and the 1840's. I have a Mary W. HART, apparently born in OH about 1844. I think Mary was a cousin to my great-grandfather, George N. HART, whose father was an Erastus HART of unknown ancestry. Mary HART lived in IA before her 1886 marriage to Oscar (Osgar) BURCH in KY. Later, they lived in Jefferson City MO. According to the Missouri book "Cole County Illustrated Sketch Book and Directory of Jefferson City and Cole County", copyright 1900, Mary's "ancestors on her father's side were closely related to Israel PUTNAM, ... a prominent figure in the Revolutionary War." One more thing: according to the 1880 census, Mary HART's parents were born in PA. Discovering this PUTNAM link brings hope. I've been up against a brick wall for several years, trying to find out who/which Erastus Hart I'm related to. Thanks for any info or help! A marriage consent form for "Caterine" Hart to marry "Julis Melican" in Green County, Kentucky, 31 May 1798, was signed by DAVID "D" [his mark] HART, giving "live to obtain lisens for my daughter Caterine." Another consent form signed the same way, together with "MARGARET "M" [her mark] HARTE" was signed on 25 Jun 1798 for "dauter" ELIZABETH to marry NATHINIAL ALKINS. Who is this David Hart? The David who married Margaret Blackwelder was too young to have had children this age, and none are listed as being their daughters. On a family file put together by Lynn Bauer [is this correct?], the David who married Margaret Blackwelder signed his name with his mark, a capital D. Could he be a brother to the girls? The Elizabeth who married Nathaniel Elkins was possibly a sister to Catherine who married Julius Millican.
Hello everyone i am reposting due to new info i recieved this morning ,i was up to visit my grandparents and while there my grandmother and myself were digging through old pictures and came across my grandfathers baptism record given to him by a father mac Arthur? of St,annes Church,Glace Bay ,Nova Scotia , it States Williaim Russell Hart son of David Hart and it seems Sara Macleod or Macphee (it is torn on the crease which her name lays on from being folded) if anyone has info on these to or a David born in Balaine(Main_a- Deiu )Area abt.1890-1903 with a wife named Sarah it would be greatly appriciated if you could help me out with any info on them all we know is that they lived in Glace bay during 1920-1929 maybe after. If Sarah (may have went by sally/Sadie) was a Macphee/McPhee she may have a brother Micheal Mcphee(or close relative). he is one of the godparents to David and Sarahs Children. other godparents are Lucy Gardiner, Thompson McNamara, Mrs.Vincent Jackson, Hilda Mombourquett, walter lawernce, Paddy Burden/Burton Any help at all would be a great help even a Phot so my Grandfather can see a picture before he looses all his eyesight.tks A.J.Jenkins _________________________________________________________________ http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-ca&page=byoa/prem&xAPID=1994&DI=1034&SU=http://hotmail.com/enca&HL=Market_MSNIS_Taglines

I am searching for information on the David Hart who, on 31 May 1798 in Green County, KY, gave leave for Julius Millican ["Julis Milican"] to marrhy his daughter Caterina. He also gave leave for a Nathaniel Elkins to marry his daughter Elizabeth Hart. The consent form for Nathaniel Elkins and Elizabeth was also signed by "Margaret" but not sure if that is Margaret Blackwelder or another wife. Catherine/Katherine and Julius later moved to Anderson County, TN; after his death in 1839, Katherine moved to Blount County and was living with Samuel H. Milligan in 1850. Thanks! Linda Oatman

Does anyone lese have HART family from County Cavan? Joan
I don't believe your Rebecca Hart has anything to do with mine. My Rebecca Kelly married Samuel Hart, and thus her name would be Rebecca Hart, but she was born about 1800, and they married in Ireland before moving to Canada. I know she was alive for the Canadian 1835 census at least. So I don't think there is any relation here. Too bad......... Karen Hart Anthony Falmouth, Maine ----- Original Message ----- From: "A. Virginia (Surry/Isle of Wight/Southampton/Sussex Co.) mystery.... I inherited the following two pieces of information about 30 years ago from some member of my Land family and no one has been able to find this Dr. Charles Land, son of William Land and Elizabeth Lewis. As you can see they have him (Dr Charles Land) marrying two different women (Mary Ann Porter m. 1760 & Mary Ann Carter of Isle of Wight Co.) and having the same child Nathaniel Land. He also has two different millitary histories seen below. They also have Nathaniel Land marrying two different women (Sallie B. Goodwin m.1784 & Rebecca (we believe Watkins) Hart) which we believe was successive. Our line continues from this Nathaniel Land. My cousin thinks that perhaps the father of this Nathaniel Land is really a Robert Land son of William Land (son of Curtis, son of William, son of Sir Frances Land) and Elizabeth Lewis. But I can not ignore the following two detailed pieces of family history. #1 "John Webb Land was the son of Nathaniel Land, the first, and his wife, Sallie B. Goodwin, who were married 1784, the said Nathaniel Land was the son of Dr. Charles Land and his wife Mary Ann Porter, married 1760. Dr. Charles Land was a son of William Land and his wife Elizabeth Lewis, married 1735." It continues: "Dr. Charles Land was assistant Surgeon in the Second Virginia Regiment and served under Co. Alexander Spottswood in the Revolutionary War. Dr. Charles Land's children were Lewis, Carter, John, Louisa, Nathaniel, the First. The children of Nathaniel, the First, were Curtis, Robert W., John Webb, and Nathaniel, the Second, and Vienna and Sally. Nathaniel Land of Hicksford on Meherrin River was a son of a brother of Nathaniel Land, the First, hence a first cousin of Nathaniel Land, the Second. W. R. Land, brother of E. C. Land, son of John Webb Land, married Helen Land, his cousin, who was a daughter of Nathaniel Land and his wife, Maria Pendleton Woodlief. The above taken from the records in Sussex County, Virgiia and Congressional Records, Washington, D.C. W. R. Land, Greensboro, N.C." & #2 "Dr. Charles Land, born 1740, died 1780. Married Mary Ann Carter from the Isle of Wight, born 1743. Dr. Land, surgeons mate, 3d Va. Reg. served under Dr. David Griffith, Lt. Col./William Heath in command of 3rd 7th Reg. Resigned 1778 due to poor health. Seven children: 1. Nathaniel, born 1761 2. John, Born 1770 3. Carter, born 1774 4. Lewis, born 1776 5. William, born 1780 6. Louisa 7. Sarah Virginia 1. Nathaniel Land, born 1761, died 1804 Feb 8, 1787 married Rebecca Hart, born 1767, died 1822...." I do not know who typed them up...they were typed in different type and clearly done at different times. Do you have any ideas as to what I can do to figure this mystery out? Thanks & Best to you, Land H. -- Facinated by Family Brown, Harris, Hamner, Herndon, Hendley, Norris, Land, Clarke, Laughton, Maynard, Nimmo, Reid, Peebles, Lucas, Webb, Hart, Wilson, Gregory, Taylor,Tyler, Osborn, Terry, LeGrand to name a few.
