Hello Hart researchers, Time to re-post this (with some new info): Was my Erastus Hart related to the other Erastus Harts from NY area? Here is what I know for sure: * Erastus Hart m. Adelia Andrews in Scioto County OH, on 02-Nov-1836 * George Hart b. 22-Jul-1845 in Portsmouth OH mother Adelia Andrews, b. in OH father Erastus Hart, b. in NY (source: death cert.) * 1850 Census -- Portsmouth, Scioto, OH -- "Evastus" Hart, 38 (1811) b. in NY Adeline Hart, 34 (1815) b. in NY Clayton Hart, 8 (1841) b. in OH M E Hart, 6 (1843) b. in OH (female) Geo Hart, 5 (1844) b. in OH Alonzo Hart, 3 (1846) b. in OH * 1860 Census -- Keokuk, Lee, IA -- Erastus Hart, 47 (1812) b. in NJ Ann Hart, 35 (1824) b. in VA Calvin Hart, 19 (1840) b. in OH Mary Hart, 16 (1843) b. in OH George Hart, 15 (1844) b. in OH Alage Hart, 13 (1846) b. in OH And two records I believe may be him: * Erastus Hart m. Ann Glover in Highland County OH, on 13-Oct-1852 (possible because 1860 census wife's name Ann, and Highland not far from Scioto) * Erastus Hart m. Lizzie Haas in Clark County IN, on 02-Apr-1867 (possible because son George was nearby in Scott & Jefferson Counties in 1870s) I haven't found his death record either, so both ends of his life are a mystery. Any help would be much appreciated! Tim Hart _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!

I am looking for background information on Alfred W. Hart born about 1846 - 1848 place unknown. He married Frances E. Tate on 2 October 1866 in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia. They had Josephine Hart ( who may not have been Alfred's as she appears to have been born ca. 1860) ; Mary E. Hart born ca 1867 ( no marriage found); Cordelia Hart born October 1869, married Joseph Johnson; Viola Hart, born ca 1875 and married Jesse Chesser in 1891; and Rosa Hart ca 1878 ( no marriage found yet). I would love to correspond with anyone having any connection to this family or with any advice for sources. Thanks in advance. Joan in Lowell, Ma
I've been involved in genealogy for many years, and have decided to give more efforts to my Hart line. This particular line, Andrew Miles Hart and Abigail Smith who moved to Highland Co. Ohio from NC, have countless descendents and a lot of research has been done, especially in regards to their ancestors which came from England. I'm hoping to find some of you in this line, willing to compare notes and info.as well as fix some online errors. My concentration is really on the descendents of Abigail & Miles. Well, I have a Francis A. Hart b 1818 d after 1860 m Elizabeth Parker bc 1821 d after 1860 They are in Fayette County KY in 1843 when their first son is born in 1843/44, his tombestone says 1843 but his civil war files uses both years... I believe they are related probably to either an OH group of Hart or IN group of Hart, Elizabeth was born in IN according to some census records and Francis was born in KY according to census records...I can not find a marriage record for them in OH, IN, KY, TN or NC.... So if you're researching OH Harts, keep an eye out for him....:) Char ----Original Message Follows---- From: "John Blair" <pastor@jblair77.fsnet.co.uk> To: HART-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HART-L] ANDREW MILES HART / NC-OH Date: Mon, 4 Oct 2004 18:00:07 +0100 I've been involved in genealogy for many years, and have decided to give more efforts to my Hart line. I'm looking for the identity of the parents of AMANDA JANE HART, born June 1855 in Texas. On different census, she gives MISSOURI as the place of birth of her Father, and ILLINOIS as the place of birth of her Mother. Amanda Jane Hart married JOHN WESLEY SCHRIMSHER on Jan 08, 1873 in Hunt Co., Texas and on April 02, 1882 she married JASPER S. HIGDON in Quinlan, Hunt Co., Texas. If you have any information as to the parentage of AMANDA JANE HART, please contact me. Thanks, Thelmarie Curtis
Hello all! I am new to the HART list but not new to genealogy. I've been doing research through direct lines by area but I thought I'd throw out my names to see if anyone else is working on the same family. My g-grandfather was William Patrick HART born March 17, 1856 in Ingleby-Greenhow, Yorkshire, England. His father was John Benedict HART born Oak House, Bilsdale, Yorkshire, England. They both immigrated to Hawaii around 1871 and taught at a Catholic Mission/School - both died and are buried in Hawaii. William had 10 children including my grandmother, Mary Margaret HART, many of whom came to the mainland. There are many HART's in Yorkshire and I have info back to mid-1700's. If anyone thinks they have a connection I would love to hear from you. I just returned from a trip to Hawaii doing some research but unfortunately found no living relatives. Regards Barbara McLean Murrieta, California

Clerk could not tell me if they were husband & wife. Need obit to rule them in/out of my HART line. TIA,Louise
I recently visited the birthplace of our subject. There was mentioned that a sister of his married a Hart. Does anyone know this line and did they come to America? Marciel Hart Wood
A lot of the men took off to Texas to find a place and returned for the women. Some deeds in the curt house just say gone to Texas. Wanda
Searching for information on Nancy Hart (1843-1902) who was a Conferederate Spy in West Virginia. She lived in Roane, Tazewell and Greenbrier Counties and married Joshua Douglas. Am especially interested in her parents (John and Rebecca Bolling Hart) and her ancestry. Thanks for any help. Julie
I was wondering if there was a particular reason why so many households in the NC 1850's and 60's had no man listed with their families in the census. I know the 60's was the war so it is understandable but why the 50's? Was the census taken for actual persons in the house at the time the surveyer came - perhaps the men were working on farms and their number taken there? I suppose this sounds dumb to most but it has been keeping me back in trying to locate certain heads of families. Thanks group! Barbara
I am trying to find the parents of Frank Hart, born in February 1855, according to the 1900 Federal Census. His wife is listed as Harriet X (surname unknown). Children: Harry Hart born ca 1882, Frank Hart born ca 1885, Baker Hart born ca 1891 and Raymond Hart born in 1902. This family was living in and around the Kensingston area of Philadelphia. Frank Hart, Jr. married Mary Clark about 1906. Any help with this family or the Hart family of Philadelphia would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Alice Beard
I might as well run this tree through again, I might get lucky and find someone in the family. My GGrandmother Emogene Florence (Woosey) Hart was married to Frank Hart and lived in Santa Cruz ,Calif. Mattie, my Grandmother, and Mabel (retarded, she lived with GGrandma Hart) were the only two Harts that I can remember meeting. Frank died in 1942 before I was born. GGrandma Hart remarried in 1950 when I was 5 to James S. Guyman of Santa Cruz, a retired Baptist Minister. I hid under a blanket on the floor of the old Plymouth, and since once discovered at the Chapel, it was too late to return me and I got to stay for the Wedding. I know all of her Family was there, but I do not know them. I used to see Grampa Edward James Whitson at the old house on Pine Street, but never got to see him once the Guymans moved to his house on Effey Street. We moved from Salinas in 1955 to Pasadena California where I stayed until I enlisted in 1965 in the Air Force. I know Donald Hart lived in Colusa California, but when I lived close by in Yuba City in 1972, the Harts were gone from the area already. There are some relitives married into the Hart family that live in Grimes, close to Colusa. Anyone that reads this and is familiar with any of this might be a relative, please email me back so we can exchange history, thanks, Ed. Ed Whitson. ewhitson@otnusa.com 01. Whitson - 02. I believe the DNA project will allow me to connect with other HART surname groups. I chose Family Tree DNA as the testing company because of the great job that they do. Rates are lower for group members than non-group members. My primary objective is to locate HART groups that have documented their ancestry back to Deacon Stephen Hart of Essex, England. I will pay for the test for the first five participants(male) who have documentated their ancestry to Deacon Stephen Hart. I will only pay for one male HART participant from each HART group. The purpose of this is to build a modal DNA haplotype of Deacon Stephen Hart. With this modal haplotype we can identify others who are descendants of Deacon Stephen Hart and make it easier to connect various groups who are related. All HART research groups are welcome to join my project. You may obtain information on DNA at the Family Tree DNA website http://w! > ww.familytreedna.com .This type of DNA testing has nothing to do with forensic testing or medical information testing. When you get to the Family Tree DNA site click on privacy at the top of the page. That will take you to legal issues, privacy and confidentiality statement. Enter HART in the surname search and it will take you to a results page. Click on HART and you will go to Join the Hart Surname Project. If you have documented ancestry to Deacon Stephen Hart contact me and I will order the test for you and pay for it. My web site is at: http://www.worldfamilies.net . Type in HART and on the following page scroll down to HART DNA Project Websites. If you have any questions contact me at: louhart@comcast.com. Oh, I do wish I had a Hart male to participate for my Francis A. Hart m Elizabeth Parker somewhere sometime in KY....:) But my cousin is a surnamed Coats male...and I will tell you that the Coats DNA projects have helped us greatly in two ways... 1. It will focus your paper research and is much less expensive than the paper research; that is not to say it should replace the paper research as such but it will help to eliminate unnecessary expense for locating documentation for your family lines.... 2. It will separate groups of Harts....it takes the quessing at least out of the different Hart groups... Do post the at least the results to the web, so we might all know how it goes....:) Charlotte Coate, Coates, Coats Digital Archive http://www.rootsquest.com/~coatsfar ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Lewis Hart" <louhart@comcast.net> To: HART-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HART-L] HART DNA Surname Project Date: Fri, 20 Aug 2004 07:39:00 -0600 Hi fellow HART researchers. Hi Andrea, I had a look at the Nova Scotia Harts a few years ago and found them to be a tight-knit group descended from a Loyalist Hart who left New England after the American Revolution. A lot of the relationships have been put together in the Mormon Ancestral File.
