Frances Elizabeth married unknown Reed before 1850 and had her son Charles in 1850 - After the 1850 census, she married Edward Morrison and had their first child, Eliza, in 1851. She then married Thomas Bangs Marche in 1859. I have death information on Eliza, Edward and Thomas and some of the children, but nothing further on this branch. James E - somewhere between 1858-1872, his family ended up in Mississippi where two of the children were born, then by 1877 was in Texas where the youngest child was born; the 1880 census finds the family in Kaufman County, TX. I have nothing further in descendants other than the names and approximate birth years of the children. Joseph S - somewhere between 1871 and 1877 migrated to Texas, where Rachel died in December, 1877. By the 1880 census, he is remarried and living in Kaufman County, TX. I am hoping there is someone out there who links to the Jewish community in Charleston of the HART name. My gggg-grandfather was Simeon Moses HART b. 1818 in Charleston SC, died 1872 in New Orleans LA (buried in Campti, Natchitoches Parish, LA. He ran away from home as a child, so we have not been able to link to his SC family. All we know is based on his own account that he left because of an "unkind" step-mother, he stowed away on a ship into New Orleans as a child, was raised there by a Jewish man named Wolfson, and made his way up to Campti, Natchitoches Parish, LA. He served as a notary, was a tutor and owned a successful dry goods business. He is known to be of German Jewish descent. I have found a HART family in Charleston with similar use of the names Simeon (Simon) and Moses. My understanding is that the use of modified names is consistent with the Jewish population coming from Portugal (versus traditional Judaic tradition of NOT naming a child after a living ancestor). From what we have been able to piece together, some Jews went to Portugal during the Inquisition, then the Inquisition in Portugal forced them out to Hamburg, Germany. And Grandpa HART's daughter and granddaughter were both named Belmont, rightly or wrongly -- we believe that may be connected to Belmonte, Portugal. We at least were curious, too, that "DEER" in Portugese is "CERVOS" = "CIERVO" in Spanish = "HART" in English. All a stretch, but we so want to find out about his family. This will not help you but might be of some interest. I am a descendant of Nathan Hart (b. about 1801 in Krakow, Poland) and Amelia VanOstern (b. 1809-12 in Holland) both of Jewish descent. They were married in New Orleans, LA in 1828. Nathan Hart came alone from Europe to New Orleans as a young boy. He was too young to have been the father of your Simeon. Both Harts and Van Osterns were early members of the first synagogue in New Orleans. I believe it was Touro Synagogue founded in 1828. I suggest you look at the 1820 census of Orleans Parish and perhaps 1830 also. I have a book The Early Jews of New Orleans by Bertram Wallace Korn and there is a Simeon Moses Hart (and he married a Miss Levy) in the Index. It's been a while since I posted my Hart interest, so I'll try again. I am searching for information on a Charity Hart who married Joseph Graham, and they had 13 children. Joseph and Charity's son, Allen Graham, was born in 1809 in Warren County, Tennessee. Joseph Graham shows up on the 1812 Warren County, Tennessee Tax Lists, and in 1820, Charity, Joseph, and their children were living in Warren County, Tennessee according to the census. At that time, they had 8 children, and Joseph was 54 years old. In about 1840 the family moved from Tennessee to Arkansas. In the 1850 U.S. Census of Arkansas, Joseph Graham was living in White River Township, Benton County, Arkansas with his two youngest daughters, Nancy, 25, and Charlotte, 17. He was 84 years old at this time, and according to the 1850 census, was born in Virginia. His wife Charity must have died prior to 1850, perhaps before the family left Tennessee. I would love to find Charity's parents and siblings. If anyone has any information on Charity Hart, I would REALLY appreciate whatever information I can get. I have nothing on her family. I am looking for the parents of my gg grandfather Joseph Hart, b. 1810 in NJ. He married in Herkimer Co., in about 1840. His sons were named Albert, William, George, Varnum, Joseph, and Charles. His daughter were Charlotte and Melissa. In about 1849, they moved to Wisc and lived there till they died. But, with the naming pattern, it makes me wonder if my Joseph and the father of your William might be siblings. In the 1880 census, Joseph stated his mother was born in NY and his father CT. I am trying to find information about my husbands grandfather Jack Hudson Hart i do not have a DOB or POB , i have him on a census in 1930 with a wife and children two are his wife's kids from a first marriage, Stella Hart is by his first wife and then my father-in-law Jack. the census is in Caddo Parish, LA, he and his then current wife wed in Hopkins Co. one family member believes there were other children before these two, possible named Eugene, Thelma Mae, and Grace as well as Stella whom was in the 1930 census, the children he had with Ice Lee Beesinger were Jack Jr., Mary Jane, and Billy Wayne. after a divorce i do not know where he went, my father-in-law, Jack Jr., passed a few years back she said he heard that his dad had died he thinks in the San Antonio, TX area in the early 1950's but he didn't know when or where. there have also been rumors that Jack Sr. had changed his name from Blivins/Blevins in his young adulthood. if anyone knows any thing that might help me find this line i would be thrilled. Hi, I am been trying to connect my Hart family and wondering if MAYBE you could help. I am back to William Hart, born prior to 1800 as in (approx) 1814 he married Patience Ring. He was from (yeah right!) someplace on the East side of PA, possibly around Mifflin County, etc.and migrated to Allegheny, PA. in 1814.  Since I have been researching for 30+ years, I think he may have been married before and is older than I believe he might be. According to a family journal written in the late 1880's, my ancestry comes from John Hart, the signer, however, somewhere I'm lost on the paper trail.   The first born son to William Hart & Patience Ring was John (I know means nothing) who was born in approx 1814.....information right from the family journal. Anyway, the story goes that in approx. 1814 he moved to Youngstown, PA (Allegheny, PA) and was not much of a father, nor a husband to his wife.  He liked to street fight and  run races and was quite the challenger.  His death came one winter when he was challenged to swim the Loyalhanna river when there was a lot of ice. this was probably between 1835 - 1850.  He won the challenge but developed pneumonia and died.  Supposedly, he is buried at the Youngstown Cemetery in Youngstown, PA, but there's no marker, etc........ I cannot find him on the 1850 census, nor can I find his wife Patience. I cannot find her as Patience Hart, Patience Ring or Patience Beaver. (she supposedly re-married) I have traced other facts in this family journal and found others mentioned...Peter Igo, for one, but I simply cannot find this William Hart.  His children to Patience Ring were John, Andrew and son William.  He also had two girls, Eliza (possibly Elizabeth (?) and Jane. prior to his death he also had a son named Raymond... I cannot locate anything on Raymond.  Supposedly his wife, Patience Ring married a man with the last name of Beaver.  They had a daughter named Ruth.  Funny thing is I found Ruth, age 14 on the 1870 census.  Also.....  Everything I traced on this family from this journal seemed to be a fact and I could document, but can't get past William Hart and Patience Ring being the parents of the above mentioned children.  ANY help or suggestions is appreciated.  I was hoping that perhaps someone might have the lineage of Daniel (son of John the Signer) and his children, children's children, etc. Thanks so much and I hope I didn't take too much of your time.
