Mamie>> Hi Mamie, I have a cousin relationship with some of the Hart family through my Rice lineage. Thomas Hart who settled in NC was married to Susannah Rice, sister to my ancestor, John Rice of Hanover County, VA. Thomas and Susannah's daughter Ann Hart, married James Gooch. When the Gooch couple met an untimely death, their daughter, Ann Gooch, was raised by her grandparents, Thomas and Susannah. Ann married Jesse Benton, who was a young lawyer in Orange County, NC during the Revolutionary Period. Ann Gooch and Jesse Benton had several children, among whom was Thomas Hart Benton, the well-known orator and lawyer who often went head to head in physical and oratorial combat with Andrew Jackson. Nathaniel Hart was also an offspring of Thomas Hart and Susannah Rice. Nathaniel Hart was married to another cousin, Sarah Simpson of Caswell County, NC; Nathaniel was a member of the Transylvania Company who helped organize the settlement of the Tennessee territories, which included Kentucky. I am also a descendant of some of the Tate clan who settled in Guilford County and Caswell County, NC. Do you think that we may have some connections there as well. Best regards, John Fox Winston-Salem, NC

    3. Hello again Hope, I would like to know more about Pleasant HART as well, please. I don't know if this HART line connects to the HARTs of the Transylvania Company, but as you may know, Susannah DIXON had two brothers. Wynn who's 2nd marriage was to Rebecca HART, daughter of David HART, and Henry "Hal", who's 2nd marriage was to Rhoda HART, a granddaughter of Benjamin HART, David's brother. The DIXON & HART families/descendants in Henderson Co. Ky. married/"bumped" into each other a lot! If you don't already know them, I know of two DIXON descendants I could connect you with. 3. Hello Hope, Mary is a descendant of David HART of the Transylvania Company, and you can find more information about David HART, the Transylvania Company, etc. by visiting your cousin Larry Jordan's very fine page that he just posted in response to the message on Kentucky HARTs. > Here's some history about the Harts in Kentucky. Many names you can check out > too. > > http://www.airtanker.com/mcnally/hart/index.html I descend from David's brother Benjamin HART. I'm sure there are more references, but here are two, the first one has info. on the ALLIN & JOUETT family. "OUR KENTUCKY PIONEER ANCESTRY; A HISTORY OF THE KINKEAD AND MCDOWELL FAMILIES OF KENTUCKY AND THOSE FAMILIES ASSOCIATED BY MARRIAGE". Researched, Compiled, and Written by, June Lee Mefford Kinkead. By, Mrs. Sarah S. Young. 1882 Printed for private distribution. I would like to hear more on what you have on Mary & Philips descendants! I will post the little of what I have in a seperate message. 2. I recently rec'd my gggg grandfather's Rev War file in which it states that Zachariah Hart was born in Pilesgrove, NJ, Salem Co, on 17 October 1758. His obit states 14 October 1749 in Pennsylvania. This New Jersey lead looks promising. Does anyone have ancestry named Hart from this area? Also he served in the Revolution as a private in the New York militia from the town of Pittstown, NY. Debbie

    3. I am looking for Zachariah Hart, son of Henry Hart and Mary Ann Maxey. Zachariah was born 1849 in Covington County, Ala. Sometime after the 1850 census, the family moved to Conecuh County, Ala. Zacariah supposedly left Conecuh County after that, and went to Texas with relatives(possibly Jesse Huggins family) Zachariah's wife wrote the family in Ala. from Texas years later, stating that Zachariah had married, had six children and was buried in either Texas or Mexico. Have been unable to locate him for years. Any help appreciated. Becky(Monroe)Sisinni

    2. MRS DOROTHY E BAILEY
    3. Have you ever wondered what happened to those men who signed the Declaration on Independence? John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and grist mill were laid waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home after the war to find his wife dead and his children vanished. A few weeks later he died from exhaustion and a broken heart. >From Christian Beacon/via Clark Co Wash Trail Breakers Vol 17 No. 3
