I contacted the General Register Office of Scotland and the sent me the following information.They were unable to find John's birth in the Parish register but believe he is the son of Andrew Harrower a Mason of Leith and Jane Paxton. They married on the 10th July 1812 in Leith. Jane Paxton re-married a Thomas Sivess and had a daughter Mary Sivess born 1836. Thomas Sivess was 20 years younger the Jane. Jane died on 3 March 1865 in Stenton aged 69 years. She was the daughter of Henry Paxton (a farmer) and Patricia Mack. Jane Paxton was born 1 April 1795 un Duns, Berwick, Scotland.
