My name's Bryony Harrower, I'm 14 and I've been trying to trace back my Harrower ancestry. However, I have a slight problem. I've been using ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk to find records, and I've managed to get back to the 1840s on some lines. Unfortunatley, I have had unbelievable trouble finding the birth certificate for William Harrower. My grandfather's parents, Jane & Thomas Harrower were cousins. Therefore Jane's father and Thomas's father must be brothers. Thomas Harrower is the child of Peter Harrower and Mary Snadon. Jane Harrower (her maiden name is Harrower) is the child of William Harrower and Agnes Anderson. William and Agnes were married on the 1st January 1868 in Clackmannan. However, when I looked up their marriage, there was only a marriage between ANDREW Harrower and Agnes Anderson, on that date. Is this significant? I have checked both Old Parish Registers and Statutory Births countless times. Nothing makes any sense. I seem to be able to track Peter on the 1871 Census. I may need to re-check this as it was a while ago that I researched it. I haven't got a birth for Peter either. Finally, William Harrower died in a coal mining accident. He was an ironstone miner. How would I get details on this accident? Sorry for this long post. I would be grateful for any help, and would love to chat to fellow Harrowers!
