    3. Thanks for the reply John My guess is that my Peter Harrower immigrated sometime after the American revolution in the 1780s. I've never been to Scotland and when I considered the trip I figured that it would cost USD$10,000 for my youngest son and I to spend 10 days there. Since I am still working and supporting two children at University this was not affordable. As mentioned before my paternal grandmother was the last Harrower in my line and my maternal grandfather was a Ross. At family gatherings they did not get along! Culloden was in 1745 and is still being fought today it would seem. I am a living history re enactor and my period is mid 18th century. Ironically I portray an English officer of a lowland Scots Regiment, 1st Regt of Foot, 2nd battalion "Royal Scots". This regiment and battalion was at Culloden.....Neither of my Scots ancestry grandparents knew of this as I started well after their deaths. It would have been interesting to see their reaction. Best regards, Frank F. Soule, III [12th generation from George Soule of the Mayflower] ________________________________ From: John Harrower <jharrowe@hotmail.com> To: harrower@rootsweb.com Sent: Mon, February 27, 2012 11:43:07 PM Subject: Re: [HARROWER] NY Harrowers Hi Frank, Interesting - My name is John Harrower and our lot and it seems your lot are somehow connected. My family originated from a place called Alva Glen which is only 15 miles away from Kinross. There are still Harrowers in the town (Alva) which is at the start of the highlands. We have been there a number of times and the cemetery has quite a few Harrowers as permanent residents now. Your lot seems to have left earlier than ours as my grandfather was William Hutton Harrower 1892 to 1972 and we were told as kids that 2 families of 4 brothers headed off at the same time- 2 went to USA and 2 to Australia. There is another John Harrower that is an entertainer in Scotland (still performing) I will get you his details as he likes to chat to Harrowers. I have had "Harrower" relatives go to Alva and the locals love to meet and talk to overseas Harrowers and maybe able to help, just ring them as they are all very friendly and get a bit of a buzz from the Harrower passing parade.
