You really do get into it and there is so much to learn. As a Harrower, we are very proud of who we are and where we have come from. I have just returned from Alva Glen in Scotland and visited 5 Harrower graves as we came from William Hutton Harrower and as yet we are just starting to trace them. Regards.

    3. We do enjoy researching the Harrower family tree and exchanging information. It is not a common surname in the US. I plan to visit Scotland, when the present world turmoil subsides a bit, to find out more about my immigrant ancestor, Peter Harrower. Peter was born 08 June 1759 in Cleish, Kinross, Scotland and died 01 January 1827 at Perth, Fulton County, NY, USA. Supposedly [no proof] he was a son of John Harrower and Margaret Thomson who lived and died in Cleish. This is where my "brick wall" is built. When I was in southern England [Guildford, Surrey] in 2000 I learned that many, but not all Britons are not interested in genealogy and do not care to hear about it. I learned to keep my trap shut in pubs and discuss other things such as how Manchester United was doing. Oh for a pint of Worthington's bitters instead of American "fizzy pop"! The rootsweb list is a great resource to get ideas on where to look for lineage facts and documentation. My paternal grandmother, Ruth Vera Harrower 1893-1985, was the last Harrower in my line. Best Regards to all listers, Frank F. Soule [12th generation from George Soule of the Mayflower] john.harrower@lvrf.com.au wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
