As a new member of the Harrison listserv, I'm trying to establish a possible Harrison/Barker connection in Brunswick County, VA. Thomas Barker, a brother to my ancestor Burwell, bought land from a Mary Harrison, widow of Thomas Harrison. I am wondering if there was more than just a land transaction. Below are notes from a land sale written by Ms. Georgia Cole of IN, provided be Ms. J. Richards of Huffman, TX. Thomas Barker later deeded several land tracts to his nephew, Thomas L. who lived in Jones Co., GA. Brunswick County, VA DB 20: 348 31 Oct 1804 In consideration of $1. and Thomas Barker�s paying to her at end of each year as long as she shall live the just sum of $25. Mary Harrison doth sell unto sd Thomas Barker all her right of dower in plantation sold by Thomas Harrison to James Crichton reserving to herself the use of the two small rooms of the house to the west end of the house which she is at liberty to occupy but not to lease or rent avoiding the taking into it of any persons who may be troublesome and badly disposed etc. Wit: Mary Harrison John Barnes, Jr. Thomas Barker Joseph Holderburg Burwell Barker Brunswick County, VA DB 29: 175 21 March 1831 Thomas L. Barker of the State of Georgia to Robert R. Jones Brunswick County, VA. Land on the east side of Black�s road which sd. land was willed to Thomas L. Barker by his uncle Thomas Barker dec�d and bounded on the east by the land of Allan Love, on the south by the land of Joseph Travis, by the land of the aforesaid Robert R. Jones and John Burnes Sevr. and on the north by the land of William Harrison, dec�d. Wit: Thomas L. Barker L/S John C. Claiborne John S. Nicholson Wm. H. Worthington Brunswick County, VA DB 29: 181 14 May 1831 Thomas L. Barker and Micah his wife of Jones County, GA to Robert R. Jones #500 land on east side of Black�s Road which sd. land was willed to Thomas L. Barker by his uncle Thomas Barker dec�d bound on the east by land of Allan Love on south by land of Joseph Travis, on west by lands of Robert R. Jones and John Barnes Sr., on north by land of William Harrison dec�d. Wit: Wm. H. Ingram Thomas L.
