Her childrens names are John, James, Joseph, Mary, Christopher, Anne, Daniel, Isaac. DAvid, And charles. of the names found in the mason ancestry the following above names are know to exist. John, Elizabeth, isaac, James, Mary, possibly charles (a step family name) >> Dear Josephine Lindsay Bass , Your information posted on the Harrison list immediately caught my eye when I saw the given names of John and James along with the Mason surname. I have an ancestor, John Mason , who married my ancestress, Priscilla Wells in Granville County, NC in 1795. They only had one son, according to the rec ords that I can find, and his name was James. I am descended from their daughter, Nancy Mason, who married William Harrison Royster of Mecklenburg County, VA and Person County, NC. Knowing the proclivity of the Wells family for marrying cousins, I cannot help but believe that there may be some connection here. William Harrison Royster's mother was Frances Draper, daughter of Solomon Draper, also of Mecklenburg County, Va. , if having that name provides any additional data for comparison. John Mason whom I have thought to have been a son of a James Mason showed in the records of Granville County only briefly in the late 1700's, and knowing that Granville is just south of Surry County, Va. it seems likely that he could have dipped down into Granville County briefly, if only for land speculation. I would greatly appreciate any information which you might provide about the John Mason descendants that you posted. With best regards, John Fox Winston-Salem, NC
