According to a GEDCOM my cousin sent, my 4G Uncle has a son named John Battel HARRISON. He was born in Monroe Co., Illinois 4 Nov 1842 and died in the Civil War at Vicksburg, Mississippi on 4 Jun 1863. John's father was a veteran of the Blackhawk War, Capt. Thomas Harrison. He left Waterloo, Monroe Co., Illinois and moved north to Pleasant Valley, Jo Daviess Co, Illinois with his family (wife: Catherine Elizabeth DeLAUNEY) abt. 1843 or 1844. Anyway, there seems to be a connection. I'm searching for Thomas' parents names, since that will be my 4G grandparents. I'm descended from Capt. Thomas' brother, Obed, who was born Dec 1800 in either Virginia or Ohio. What I have on Obed: he had a twin named Vincent. Obed eventually married (probably at least a 2nd marriage :) ) Martha J. HURT (HART?) LISTER in Pickaway Co., OH, 1 May 1862. I have record of the marriage from the Probate Court, but no parents names are given. They moved to Clayton and then Dubuque Counties in Iowa. They're in Dubuque Co. for the 1870 census. His twin, Vincent, died in Clayton County that year. He had married Rebecca TOMLINSON. Some of Obed and Vin's children later moved to the area where their uncle Thomas was living in Jo Daviess Co., Illinois. Does this sound vaguely familiar to anyone? Help if you can! Thanks....
