Notes for EDITH HARRISON: Edith McCorkindale was a tailor, like Mac. She worked with him in the = tailor shop, the=20 bakery and the Post Office where she continued until 1962. She was very = active in the=20 community, including as a charter member of the Methodist Church where = she was in=20 the "Swastika Circle" founded in 1907 (no photo of her wearing a = swastika - the symbol=20 only became associated with the nazis years later). Notes for JOHN MATHISON "MAC" MCCORKINDALE: Mac and Edith owned and operated the first tailor shop in Elkhorn, until = he went off in=20 WW1 as Regimental Sergeant Major in the 29th Battalion. After this he = opened a bakery=20 until 1926 when he began a long career as Postmaster - he was the first = member of the=20 Canadian Post Masters Ass'n to be made a life member, in 1954. Also a = member and=20 leader with the Masonic Lodge for almost 50 years and charter member of = the Great=20 War Veterans. Mac retired in 1950. His son Bill worked in the oil = fields, married Lorna=20 Shapley in 1957 but was killed in a car accident in 1959.
