Becky, I think I responded to your msg last time or more probably I started writing back and got tied up and never responded. There is mention of Lewis Harrison and the story that his father died trying to save his son in the Grant Co...IN Atlas. Lewis and family there (Leaches too) have always interested me because my Harrisons were from Clinton/Greene County OH and moved to Grant Co. abt 1834 and I have not found them farther back than OH. My William Henry Harrison is mentioned in the Grant Co. Atlas too but no relationship mentioned. It is a curiosity to me that WHH would name his first son John (thinking it might be an uncle or grandfather's name). I know that WHH was the son of Wm Harrioson and in 1820 he is listed as one of three sons in the Clinton Co., OH Census. I have no clue as to the siblings' names. Do you have any idea of birth or death dates for your John?? Janet In a message dated 09/27/1999 11:21:05 AM HARRISON-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: << I thought I would give it one more try. I'm searching for information about my ggg grandfather, John Harrison (wife unknown). He was born in VA, but died in Ohio while rescuing his son, John, Jr., from a falling tree. He had two other children - Sarah (m. William Leach and settled in Fairmount, IN) and Lewis, my gg grandfather. Lewis served in the Mexican War and was born 1808 or 1810 in Ohio. He died in 1860 in Indiana. He was married to Elizabeth Searl. They had three children. Luther, S., Rachel and my g grandfather, John S. D. Harrison. John was married to Elma Ann Templeton (whose second husband was Tom Dyson). Elma was a descendant of the Clanton Gang. Elma and John had one son, Laurence, my grandfather. Laurence was born on 5/9/1874 and died on 5/25/1962 - Laurence was married to Nola Butler. If anyone has a connection, please let me know. Thanks. Becky ______________________________ >>
