Hi all! I have been working on the Brunswick Harrisons and looking at the book "Neville, Jones, Giles, Spencer, Harrison Families and Collateral Lines 1600-1992" by Shepherd Spencer Neville Brown. The book is available from Texas Press of Waco, TX (2620 MacArthur, Waco, TX 76708), LCCCN 92-75777, published 1993. $30.00. I have been through the generations once, now need to go back and review. There are numerous errors that I noticed such as year transpositions and conflicts with the text vs the charts so be careful when you are reviewing this book. I do think Brown is in error about Ben Harrison (Son of James Harrison and Mary Ann Washington) and Sally Cole... !CONFLICT Brown indicates spouses name was Sally COLE but also clearly states that he removed to Huntsville and had at least one dau Martha Leslie HARRISON who married Dr. David MOORE. We have the obit of Col Benjamin Harrison's wife who died in AL named Mary Ann, so it appears that this is our Benjamin who removed to Huntsville and died in Limestone Co. AL. James Harrison (wife Mary Ann) had a brother named Benjamin that married Sally Cole. Confusing, yes, but I believe Brown is mistaken about Sally being this Ben's wife. Obit of Mary Ann HARRISON (nee ? now believed to be LASHLEY (but wondering if it is mispelled from LESSLIE due to the naming of the children and other family associations with this surname). We are currently showing she is a dau of Benjamin LASHLEY and Martha HARRISON dau of William HARRISON of Cock's Creek, Brunswick who may well be related to Benjamin Harison Esq. Of Charles City Co. - see land records) : Huntsville Democrate Obit, 27 Aug 1847: Died at the residence of Col. Benjamin Harrison of Limestone Co., aged 62 years. She was the wife of Benjamin Harrison, and was born in Brunswick Co. VA, 1786. The Democrat asks Methodist papers and the Petersburg, GA, papers to copy the obituary (Gandrud, Alabama Records, vol. 86, p. 29). 1 James HARRISON (ca 1740 - abt 1796)& Mary Ann WASHINGTON[965] 1.1a Robert W. BROWN indicates her name was Mary Ann WASHINGTON daughter of Nancy and Robert Wylie Washington. Witnesses on his will and probate records support Brown. This is very exciting as we have been trying for the longest to figure out which Ben of Brunswick he was! My HARRISON ancestors were in Madison & Limestone Co., AL but I do not know how they are related (if at all) to this Col. Benjamin. Our James HARRISON and Elizabeth HARRISSON [yes her name was spelled with 2 s's] (m. 1815 Madison Co., AL, family legend is that they are cousins and both related to Ben the Signer) named a son Joseph S. Harrison & he named son William Tell Harrison After Wm Tell Sanders.... William Leslie Harrison m. Sanders, son of Col Benj. Harrison of Brunswick & Limestone Co. AL. So there may well be a connection. Randolph and Margaret HARRISON (relationships unknown) married HANCOCKs in Madison Co. AL about the same time period as our James & Elizabeth (around 1815). I have long suspected that they were connected to the Brunswick HARRISONs. A William Hancock deceased, buyers at sale in Madison Co., AL were James Harrison, Gideon Harrison 7 Feb 1815... so likely related to our line. Mom has put together some pretty good evidence that our James is a son of Gideon of Rockingham, but we still have no hard proof. Of additional interest is that our Elizabeth was born c1790 SC. No idea who her parents are! But these HARRISONs that migrated from Brunswick to SC are quite interesting! still diggin' !!!! becky Becky Bass Bonner Email: rbonner@imail.ouhsc.edu old:rbonner@rex.ouhsc.edu Home of the *HARRISON* Repository http://moon.ouhsc.edu/rbonner/harintro.htm My Family WWW: http://moon.ouhsc.edu/rbonner/index.htm Data Managed by me and my mom Josephine Lindsay Bass (jbass@digital.net)
