are from County Wexford, where they farmed at a place called Hardyglass, near Lake Tacumshin, about 20 miles Southwest of Wexford City. My Great Great Grandfather was Bengeman Harrison, b. in 1775 at Hardyglass. He married Hannagh DUFFIELD, b. 1793. Bengeman [probably spelled Benjamin today] died at Hardyglass March 24, 1852, and is buried in Ballybrennan Cemetery in County Wexford alongside Hannagh, who died July 15, 1843. They had six children that I'm aware of: Samuel Aaron b. July 25, 1823, Hannah Francis b. 1820, Susan b. 1818, and Benjamine, William, and George, all of unknown birthdates or years. I'm presuming they were married around 1815 - 20, guessing from the known ages of some of the children. Interestingly, also in County Wexford lived Hannagh's sister Martha, and she married Edward Tackaberry of Farouamille, Wexford. [I do believe there was also one other DUFFIELD sister named Susan, but have no further information on her]. Martha and Ed Tackaberry had one daughter that I'm aware of, Elizabeth Ruth, b. 8-19-1823. On April 28, 1854, Samuel Aaron HARRISON, whose training was in seamanship and navigation and who sailed in merchant ships from Liverpool to Baltimore in the late 1840's and early 1850's, and Elizabeth Ruth TACKABERRY [and supposedly two of Elizabeth's sisters and a cousin, although I have no record or names for them] sailed aboard the ship GLENLYON out of New Ross, County Wexford on April 28, 1854 bound for Montreal, Canada. My guess is that they arrived in Montreal in June of 1854. Either that Christmas Day or the following Christmas Day, Samuel and Elizabeth were married "in the farm home of Elizabeth's married sister on the Ontario/Vermont border" [according to a remembrance written by one of the family many years ago]. For a time [several years], they lived in in Smith Falls, Ontario where they ran a general store, and then in the early 1860's, they emigrated to the USA, arriving by boat in Milwaukee, and then overland to Oshkosh on Lake Winnebago, where Samuel worked for a time as a stone mason. Ultimately they homesteaded a farm in Waushara County, between Poy Sippi and Tustin about two miles from the shores of Lake Poygan, where their additional children were born: Hannah Elizabeth, b. 1856; Martha Jane b. 1858; Susan Marie b. 1860; Samuel Aaron Jr., b. 1-30-1861; George W. b. 1863; Benjamin Edward Tackaberry Harrison b. 1866, and Cadwalleder Joseph Edmund Harrison [my maternal grandfather] b. 12-22-1867. Not sure which were born in Canada and which in the USA. My interest is in locating the burial sites of Bengeman & Hannagh's predecesors, any of their descendents that remain in Ireland, and any descendents that I am unaware of in the USA or in Australia, where I understand some of the family may have also emigrated to. Any and all responses welcomed.
