His mother was Jessie McAuslan and his father was Shepard Sewell Averitt. He went to Florida and married my Grandmother who was Athalia Richard, She was born in Alachua County, Fl., and Her Mother was Belinda Buddington Richard and Her father was Job Tison Richard. I have quite a bit on them but there is a Surname genealogy on Dempsey Averitt. I believe he was from Ky. I have a copy of it if it would be helpful for me to look up for you let me know.
