    3. Wait a minute - wow, LEFTWICH & Daniel Harrison - I know something might help. Betty sent me this: The Daniel Harrison in Limestone Co married Jane Leftwich. I haven't looked up to see when, but I will do that later. There is quite a bit about her descentants, around Mooresville. Superior Court & Circuit Court, Abstracts 1818-1820, p.225-227. (From Limestone Legacy, Summer 1883, Vol. 12, #2) PHELPHS SMITH vs JAMES HARRISON: On 4th Monday in October 1819, was filed a petition in the name of PHELPHS SMITH against JAMES HARRISON based on a note of hand to PHELPS SMITH for the sum of forty dollars in consideration of a parcel of pork bought of Smith & estimated 1000 lbs. Said Smith agreeing in case the pork did not holl ? (whole?) out that amount to make a proportionable deduction on the bond and to meet petitioner at Athens at the election for members to the convention to make payment...said Smith did not attend but shortly afterwards sued petitioner by a forthwith warrant about 20 miles from his place3 of residence...& petitioner not being able to attend & make his defense, judgement was rendered against him for the full amount although the pork did not make the quantity for which the bond was given by about 200 lbs. Petitioner prays for an award of a writ of certiarari to remove the action into the Circuit Court......Sworn the 24 Sept. 1819, know all men...that we JAMES HARRISON AND DANIEL HARRISON are firmly bound unto Phelps Smith in the penal sum of $500....dated the 8th day of October 1819...The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas by order of John W. Walker, Judge, this day made a petition of said James Harrison writs of certiarari are directed to be issued....The defendant failed to appear, the plaintiff supported his action by note of hand, it is therefore adjudged that the defendant pay to the plaintiff the sum of $41 principle and interest and also the further sum of $1.31-1/4 cost of suit this 21st day of August 1819....This cause having been continued and now...on the 1st Monday in September, 1822, came the parties by their attorneys and the plaintiff says he wishes no further to prosecute...the plaintiff recovers his cost in this behalf. Cynthia Harriett Harrison, dau of James b 1829 d 1899 in Union Co. AR, she is the aunt of Lura Porter Lindsay who had m. Judge Saxon there in 1893. Lura is the dau of Nancy Harrison (dau of James) and Zachariah Lindsay. There were other Harrisons listed under Land Records for Union Co. They were: Harrison, Augustus 1861 Daniel 1889 Garland 1906 (there was a Garland Alvis in Cullen, AL cousin of Zachariah Lindsay) George 1860 Gideon 1860 (Gideon Harrison-Rev Soldier in Limestone, Athens, AL) Lorenzo 1859 Nancy 1848 William 1860 Think a Martha WHITE was married to John CRAIG who came to Madison/Limestone in 1806 from E. TN and his dau Nancy m. Joseph Harrison in Old E. TN around what is now Marysville. Think Joseph is son of Gideon or near relation. Joseph's son Harvey m. Zilpha Bell in Limestone and this line picked up and moved to Missouri in 1829 along with some Craigs and Bells. Gideon 1762-1838 went to Murfreesboro, TN died there. Leaving James in Limestone (my gf). we gotta get more info on the LEFTWICH link and the Union Co. AR Harrisons. josie At 07:05 PM 06/22/2000 -0400, you wrote: >I have watched with great interest the discussion of the Battaile Harrisons >as I really believe my line must tie into it.
