The one for which this will was posted was born in 1839, thus too late to have been in the Rev. War :-). I'm surprised that you found one with the Batteal spelling that far back. The earliest one I was aware of was born in 1780 (the grandfather of the one mentioned in this will). The name (as a first name) originates with Andrew Harrison, Jr.'s marriage to Elizabeth Battaile.
