A few months back, I posted the information I had on my GG Grandparents - John H. Atkinson and Susan C. Harrison, as follows: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John H. Atkinson was born 1/10/1854 in GA (probably in Greene County), died March 26, 1928 in Alabama. Susan C. Harrison was born 4/25/1855 in GA, died September 30, 1882 in Georgia, probably in Henry County. In the 1880 Census of Henry County, GA, I find: 140 140 Robert Harrison M 26 GA SC GA L(?) " F 26 GA GA GA Ophalia " F 6 GA GA GA Mary J. " F 2 GA GA GA Sarah " F 1 GA GA GA 141 141 Nancy Harrison F 47 GA GA GA Joshua " M 12 GA GA GA 142 142 Andrew Walker M 75 SC SC SC Mary " F 70 SC SC SC John Harrison M 20 GA GA GA Masonsa(?) " F 17 GA GA GA (granddaughter to theWalkers) 145 145 John H. Atkinson M 26 GA GA GA Susan " F 22 GA SC GA John J. " M 4 GA GA GA Sarah O. " F 2 GA GA GA Henrietta " F 1 GA GA GA It appears that Robert, Susan, and John are siblings. And Nancy could be their mother. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have since found that Nancy Lords (sic) married John Harrison in Fayette County in 1853. That would jibe with the birth dates of Robert Harrison and Susan (Harrison) Atkinson above. I went to the 1870 Census for Georgia and couldn't find John or Nancy Harrison listed as head of household anywhere. I went back to the 1860 Census for Georgia and there they were in Clayton County. (Clayton County was created from Fayette County in 1858 and is adjacent to Henry County.) The Census entry read as follows: John Harrison M 56 Farm labor SC N.A. " F 25 GA R.H. " M 7 GA S.C. " F 5 GA M.F. " M 2 GA This is obviously the same Nancy, Robert, and Susan. It also fits the "GA SC GA" information on the 1880 Census for Robert and Susan. So, we have a 49 year old John Harrison from SC marrying an 18 year old Nancy Lords in 1853. Does anyone have a John (why did it have to be John?) Harrison, born in SC about 1804? I am guessing that John was probably married before and may have had another family in SC or GA. Again, any help would be appreciated. Jim Nix Birmingham, AL
