Thanks! There is a LDS family history center near me. I will go there again. The first time there I was thoroughly confused and did not get anything out of the visit. They do have microfilm there. I have checked their internet site, but most things I find are for 1700 and earlier. I am still in the era of 1850 - 1930; working my way backwards. The people I am looking for would be married and having their children around 1890 - 1923. They are as follows: I am looking for John Wesley (Westly) Washington who married Avery Porter. Their children were Jewel, Rosie, Roger, Booker T., Louise, Charles and David. John Wesly Washington was born in Pensacola, Florida; his parents were Annie Davis and George Washington; his siblings were Iziah, Mary, and Henry. Annie Davis remarried later and married Walter Harrison. The children from this marriage were Charity, Arthur, Pearl, and Lillie. Avery Porter was from St. Tammany Parish, specifically Slidell, Louisiana. All of hers and John's children were born in Slidell. Avery's parents were Roger Friday Napoleon Porter and Matilda Rates. Her siblings were Alexander, Octavia, James A., Nathaniel, Mable, and Ruth. All of these families, except Annie Davis and George Washington, began in Slidell, LA. By 1920, they had moved to Watts, Los Angeles County, California. Annie Davis and George Washington originated in Pensacola, FL. This is an African-American Family with Mulatto ties and possibly Indian. If you can be of any help in locating family information in St. Tammany, I would appreciate it. Sincerely, Tracy Matilda remarried later and married Felix Adams. They had two children, Odessa and Ted.
