You have helped me knock down one of my "brick walls". I suspected that what you confirmed was true and, for my own sake, I will continue to investigate this further. I am wondering if these Harrisons were originally from the Essex County, NJ, Harrisons? I believe that Martha Harrison married my 3g-gfather, Albert Hopper, about 1798, but have not been able to determine where the marriage took place. Albert was descended from the Hoppe/Hopper family of Bergen Co., NJ. His father was Capt. Jonathan Hopper of the Bergen Co. Militia, who was murdered in his bed by Tories during trhe Revolutionary War. Albert and Martha named three of their sons Jonathan, Adonijah, and Hiram Hopper, which made me suspect that the Harrisons were involved. Hiram Harrison was living next door to Albert and Martha in the 1810 NYC census, and he was in Cincinnati with Albert and Martha in 1820. For some reason, he left Cincinnati by 1830 and returned to NY. Martha (Harrison) Hopper died in Cincinnati in 1835 (from cemetery record), and Albert died there ten years later. Hiram Hopper (my g-g-gfather) took over the family grocery business, then sold it about 1852 and moved to Greenville (Floyd Co.), IN. Based on their children's birth dates and places as reflected later census records, it appears that Albert and Martha did not leave for Cincinnati until about 1815-1820. Do you know which church records I might research to find birth/marriage data for the Harrisons? The Hoppers were members of the Dutch Reformed Church, mainly in Bergen Co.
