    3. Just a note about 2- Barbara Cook Wynne (Simmons) (HARRISON) b: ABT 1793 This was Barbara Cook Harrison who married Matthew Wynne, Jr. Her parents were Clement King Harrison (ca1772-1808) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Williams (1773-1846). Clement King Harrison and Elizabeth Williams Harrison's daughters Elizabeth and Mary "Polly" B. (probably Bacon) Harrison both married John Sammon, Jr. After the 1815 birth of a daughter Elizabeth Sammon, Elizabeth Harrison Sammon (wife of John Sammon Jr.) died in 1816 and then John married Elizabeth's sister Mary B. "Polly" Harrison. Clement King Harrison was convicted of murdering his neighbor Mr. Critcher, and was "sentenced to you be then and there hanged by the neck untill dead and the Lord have mercy on your soul.". [Augusta Chronicle, June 13, 1807] Matthew Wynne Jr. (who married Barbara Cook Harrison) was the son of Matthew Wynne Sr. and Susannah "Sucky" Sammon. Sometimes the Sammon name was spelled Sammons or Salmon and oftentimes was mistaken (or written) as Simmons. Hope my message about Barbara Cook Harrison Wynne isn't too convoluted! 3. Note about Matthew Richard Tyrell HARRISON b: 7 DEC 1805 in Elbert County, Georgia Matthew Richard Tyrell Harrison (son of Clement King Harrison and Elizabeth "Betsy" Williams) married Martha Sarah Devant in Wilkes County, Georgia and he died June 23, 1873 in Marietta, Georgia. He is referred to in his grandfather's (Matthew Jouett Williams) will (January 1819, Elbert County, Georgia) as "Mat. R. T. Harrison." After the death of his father Clement King Harrison, he was raised by his maternal uncle Thomas Williams. Upon graduation from West Point Military Academy, Class of 1825, Matthew R. T. Harrison changed his name to that of his grandfather Matthew Jouett Williams. "Matthew J. Williams was born in Elbert County, Georgia, in 1805 and was graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1825, serving in the artillery at the Fort Monroe artillery school of practice until his transfer to the Third Infantry in 1826. Resigning from the army in October 1827, he studied law and engaged in its practice at Lawrenceville, Georgia, until 1835. He later became a teacher and from 1846 to 1854 he was professor of astronomy and mathematics in the South Carolina College, at Columbia. After resigning his professorship because of declining health, he came to Marietta."
