He came to South Africa from Australia where he had tried his hand at prospecting for gold, or so he claims. He was a mason by trade and seemed to have gotten into trouble with the law quite often. It was rumoured that he was wanted in Australia for embezzlement. He disappeared from Johannesburg shortly after the finding of the reef and thought that he might have died of fever on his way to Barberton. He was a misterious quiet man, apparently of Cornish decent. I would appreciate any information! Thank you Liezel
