Classification: Marriage Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/jhh.2ACIB/5426 Message Board Post: Washington Post, Sunday, October 19, 1913 Alexandria Society A beautiful home wedding took place last night at 8 o’clock at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Stasius Meade, on Braddock Heights when their only daughter, Miss Virginia Meade, became the wife of Mr. Daniel Jenifer Harrison, son of Dr. and Mrs. Henry T. Harrison, of Lochraven, Maryland. The parlors, hall and stairway were decorated with autumn flowers and leaves. The bride wore her great grandmother’s wedding gown, of Chinese hand-embroidered crepe, brought from China nearly a hundred years ago, elaborately trimmed with chiffon, and the yoke of duchess lace, and her only ornament was a pearl necklace. Her tulle veil was caught with orange blossoms and she carried bride roses. The maid of honor was Miss Emily Clifton Harrison, of Lochraven, whose gown was of blue embroidered chiffon. She carried a bouquet of La France roses. Mr. Harrison had as his best man his brother, Mr. Henry Tucker Harrison, Jr., of Baltimore. The ceremony was performed by the Revere! nd William Jackson Morton, Rector of Christ Protestant Episcopal Church, and the wedding march from Lohengrin was played by Miss Virginia Fitzhugh Wheat, of Rosemont. Mrs. Stasius Meade, the bride’s mother, wore a handsome white lace gown and ornaments of amethysts. The bride came down the winding stairway and entered the parlor, leaning on the arm of her father, who gave her in marriage. Following the ceremony a reception was held, and later in the evening Mr. and Mrs. Harrison left for a Southern bridal tour, and this winter will be at home with Mrs. Harrison’s parents, on Braddock Heights. The out-of-town guests were Dr. and Mrs. Henry T. Harrison, Miss Emily Clifton Harrison, of Lochraven, Maryland (parents and sister of the groom); Mr. Tucker Harrison, of Baltimore, Maryland (brother of the groom); Mrs. John H. Mitchell, Miss Charlotte Mitchell, and Miss Mary Boswell, of La Plata, Maryland; Mr. and Mrs. George Ashley, the Misses Barry, Mr. and Mrs. ! W. S. Boteler, Mrs. And Mrs. Clement L. Boure, Mrs. And Mrs. Maxwell B arton, Miss Jean Carter, the Misses Handy, Mr. and Mrs. Barry Mohun (uncle and aunt of the bride), Miss Elizabeth Mohun, Mrs. Anna R. Mohun, Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Michener (parents of Mrs. Barry Mohun), Miss Phelps, the Misses Robertson, and Mrs. And Mrs. Charles E. Dole, of Washington; Mrs. A. Anderson, and Mr. and Mrs. John L. Mohun (uncle and aunt of the bride), of New York; Dr. and Mrs. Sigel Roush, of Troy, New York (uncle and aunt of the bride); Mrs. Annie Fuller, Miss Fuller, and Mr. William C. Fergusson, of Baltimore; Mrs. David O. Sunderland, of Henderson, North Carolina; the Misses Meade, Mr. R. A. Meade, Miss Monie Tyler, and Miss Mary Scott, of Haymarket, Virginia; and Mr. Wilson L. Townsend, of Kensington, Maryland.
