My great-grandfather was born in 1853. He always said Charleston, SC. The earliest date I can find him is 1874, when he signed his marriage contract using the name Louis Harrison. His family was Jewish and I found the name "Aryeah Hamer" and his father's name, Noah. This was in Florence, SC. I have searched for ANYTHING prior to 1874. He said he attended "Marion schools and Wofford College." They have no records for him. It is possible his parents came to America in 1850 by way of Barcelona, Spain (that may have been their point of departure, not their residence). I have no idea what the family name originally was. I haven't a clue where they landed. If anyone out there is Jewish, with the name of Harrison, please contact me.I need your help. Caroline Harrison Byng
