Brook was born in the west riding of yorkshire in Clayton by Bradford in Dec 1869 and his birth was registered in the first quarter of 1870. Where the family lived at that time. Shortly after which the family moved to Horton by Bradford which is in very close proximaty to Clayton. I have them in the 1871and 1881 English census. His mother was living alone in the 1891 english census widowed which i knew as his father died in October 1890. From that point I had lost Brook and decided to pop his name on ancestry .com and bingo up he came in the US for 1900,1910, 1920 and 1930 census. All in Paterson Passaic New Jersey. I have all these census now. But at this time no further US census is available. So I do not know when he died. In 1930 census he was 60 years old. So by 1940 census he could be dead. I have no idea when the US government will release the records of that census for viewing. I have tried the us social security death index but he does not appear on it. Most entries for it don't start in earnest till the mid to late 1970 there are a few for the 1960's but I hardly think he lived that long. He had two daughters and three sons Alice born 1899, Tom, Harry, Bessie and Raymond born 1911. His wife Molly I learnt from the 1900 census was previously married to someone named Sullivan and she has a daughter named Hannah(born 1890) from that union. Brook came to the US on the ship named Majestic arriving on the 18 of March 1891. By all accounts he traveled alone. With one piece of luggage! His wife Molly came to the US also from England but she came as an infant around 1868/9. Since I don't know her maiden name I haven't traced her actual arrival yet. I have not been successful in finding a marriage for this couple according to the 1900 census they had married two years previously so 1898. New Jersey records for that time are either non existant or not been kept or at this time not accessible! I can understand him coming to that area as Mills abounded and he was a weaver so he obviously knew what he was up to! No other known family member knew about Brook until I found him in the 1881 census and there is no one alive today that was even aware that he exsisted or immigrated for that matter! Thanks again for your reply. Looking forward to hearing from u! Moments From Margaret. PS Brooks parents married in March of 1867. Peter age given as 38 was actually 39 and Alice age 24 was actually 22! him a widower her a spinster. his first wife died as result of childbirth in 1865. Leaving him with 3 youngsters. Brook was the only known offspring of theirs. No others appear on census but doesn't mean that they didn't exsist just may not have survived! I definitely agree that Harrisons abound in yorkshire! Especially in Bradford and surrounds!
